Presidents Report 2012-13. During the past 12 months the Association has been involved and planted approx. 12.000 endemic species of eucalypt into the Qualen reserve. The site was ripped with a D8 bulldozer belonging to Peter Dawson under an obligation from the York Shire the previous managers of this Reserve that was solely used for gravel extraction. The endemic species planted were equal numbers of-- Inland Wandoo, (Capillosa), Wandoo (Wandoo), eucalypt Accedens, (Powder bark). The management order for the Reserve is Landscape and Protection which the Vestment was given to us by the Wheat belt Lands Dept. Further work needs to be done such as removal of the remnant rubbish that has accumulated, and needs to be taken to a central collection point for removal by the Shire in which was there obligation after transferring the Vestment order to TBLMA. Funding needs to be applied for for the establishment of a shelter and seating for the benefit of environmental groups to study the species of trees and orchids and a base for walks along the existing tracks. After spending 14yrs with this Association and 9yrs as President I wish to exit this position and hand over the leadership to another President who may generate new ideas in Land management and a focus on generating interest in the engagement of the local Community. After looking at previous projects I have been involved in over the last fourteen years I am satisfied that they have been truly successful and the amount of growth generated by these endemic species given the right type of preparation has been marvellous. I thank all the volunteers and farming Community for their support and help in the projects undertaken, and the catering done on planting days. Also our Secretary Geoff Williams and Treasurer Robert Boggs my wife Betty, and our Committee members, for the work they have done over the last 14yrs I have been associated with them. I wish the incoming President an enjoyable period with the Association in which I have had over the past years. Colin Cable. 1284 Qualen West Road York 6302.
