State Certified Safety Committee Meeting

Attendees: K. Cuomo, M. Smith, A. Davis, B. Mallery, K. Jones, L. Stang, M. Moore, M. Austin, J. Baker, C. Childress, T. Jayne, P. Staats, M. Weisgold, K. Guiton, C. Place(guest) Absent: F. Fenton, K. Travis, P. McGee, L. Evans, S. Carr, L. Levin, T. Blaisure, P. Staats Roll Call (above): Acceptance of Minutes: Dr. Davis moved and Mr. Weisgold seconded to accept the minutes from the March 15 meeting, with 2 corrections that Mr. Stang found in regards to the school delay wind (will change to wind chill). All members were in favor. New Business: Maintenance Projects (summer) Small paving in front of the high school. The leaning light pole with wires hanging low by the tennis courts. New fencing around the playground behind the school, the poles and concrete lifted out of the ground and the gate won’t shut from frost. High school middle stairwell roof is collapsing; Mr. Gazzillo’s class is fixing and has blocked this entrance off due to safety concerns. Take old heating out of the gym. Install the new basketball hoops outdoors, purchased by PTO. Mr. Good’s shop safety parts have been ordered. Old Business: Dr. Cuomo stated we will be having a lockdown with the dogs soon. Dr. Cuomo explained the new process of sending a letter to the DA with specific reasons as to the need for the drug dog to be brought in. Fire Drills – conduct monthly. There was a lockdown drill on April 13. Other Items: Mr. Place, guest, brought up the concern with students bringing bats on the bus. The new bat bag is a backpack where the bats are half out and students are passing them around. Dr. Cuomo informed the committee about a policy being reviewed by the Board for Nalozone, the Heroin Overdose reversal Nasal Spray. Mrs. Griffiths has already been trained on how to identify a Heroin overdose and how to administer the spray. Mr. Stang recommended meeting with the Fire Department, EMS, Triguard and PSP to identify what will happen with each alarm so then we can set up procedures and training. Compensation Claims: None.
