NEW MIDDLE SCHOOL This Presentation will update the BOE on the new Llano Street Middle School.

Programming and input sessions were held with Site staff, Site Administrator, Capshaw Teachers DeVargas Teachers & Various Facility Support Agents

Administration Area Secure entrance Administration has clear view of visitors and entrance Security Office Offices for Counselors, Truancy, SpEd, Community & School Restrooms for office staff

PE teachers from Capshaw & De Vargas provided input on: Lockers right sized for actual experienced need and usage Multi Purpose Gym Classroom (positive feature from Capshaw)

Secure Access to Gym direct from air-lock, school can be locked off to visitors Apparatus room added Gym visually opened to the Student commons 3

Programming with Music Department resulted in: Band, Orchestra, Chorus, grouped away from quiet classrooms, adjacent to performance stage and Dance / Cheer Practice Rooms added; music storage was right sized for each program

Cafetorium Stage area to be used as classroom for Dance/Drama/Music Cafetorium designed to function as performance space for school programs

Kitchen Input from Judy Jaquez, SFPS Food Services Coordinator provided input on: Revision of cooking line for Menu of Middle School students Variety of menu options will now be provided including pre-packaged salads Serving 650 students caused the serving line configuration to change from 2 serving lines to 4 Larger Chair and Table storage due to efficiencies in the Mechanical Plant Balls, Frisbees, etc. checkout adjacent to the Field Access after lunch (highlighted rectangle) 5

Input from the Art Department resulted the addition of a second Art Lab Family & Consumer Science was changed from a dedicated Culinary Arts Lab in order to broaden the scope of the offering

School can be secured by gates (highlighted areas) at corridors for afterhours Gym use Concession Stand & Restrooms located in Commons for access during games, lectures, performances

Heat Pump Mechanical Closets added to Floor Plan (highlighted areas) Maker’s Lab planned as a flexible space

Media Center Computer and related AV/CAD Labs co-located near Media Center for coordinated learning activities

Night Lighting of the Site will be in full compliance with the Night Sky Ordinance Building Mounted Cut Off style lights will be normally dimmed and on a time clock, motion sensor override Parking Lot lighting will be dimmed and on a time clock, motion sensor override to full bright, per District standards
