Message From the Principal Dear Foothills Elementary Community January was a fantastic month at Foothills Elementary! From the Green Mountain Area Spelling Bee, and ELL Family Night, to the Western Stock Show Kindergarten Field Trip, Foothills Elementary truly is a special place. Kindergarten registration and Open Enrollment has begun. Please feel free to stop by the office and fill out your registration, or look to our website for additional information. Students are now using the new technology that provides access to some of the best instructional practices available. It is just one of the many ways PTA and PIE (Partners in Education) are continuing to focus on ways to support the school. Your input is greatly appreciated, so please become part of PIE and PTA and help support our kids. I’m so proud of each and every one of our Foothills Falcons. They continue to S.O.A.R. every day! The WATCH D.O.G.S program at Foothills is continuing to grow. Our Junior Watch D.O.G.S program is growing as well. Thanks for helping us keep our school safe. As always, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire Foothills community for all the help and support each and every day. It is an honor to be your principal. Josh Shapiro, Principal

Following a tradition of many years, the Green Mountain Civic Association (GMCA) once again helped make December a Merry occasion for the Foothills students. - GMCA bought clothes and toys for one family. Two additional families received King Soopers gift cards. Also, two GMCA resident households "adopted" additional families and provided them with Christmas gifts. - Another GMCA sponsored tradition is Santa's visit just before the Christmas break. Approximately 275 preschool, kindergarten, first, and second grade students received pictures with Santa and a bag with candy, stickers, pencil and ornament. Many thanks to GMCA for everything it does for Foothills Elementary School. And, we also look forward to its food contributions to our annual Fall Festival.

PARCC TESTING COMING SOON We will be administering the State CMAS tests this spring from March 20 thru April 28. Grade level schedules will be sent home when we get closer to the testing window. We appreciate your cooperation as we partner to ensure all students are here and ready to be tested. Please avoid scheduling appointments and vacations during this time. We will not be approving any prearranged absences for any grade level during the March 20-April 28 testing window. Thank you for your support during this time. SNACKS NEEDED FOR TEACHER TRAINING Are you interested in thanking teachers for the hard work they do at Foothills? We are in need of wrapped, non-perishable snacks to be available for teachers to enjoy while they are participating in their professional learning community (PLC) meetings, trainings, and planning sessions. Teachers love a combination of sweet and salty snacks, so anything you send in would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in helping us out, please label snacks with “snacks for teachers” and send them to school with your child or drop them off in the office. Thank you in advance for your support.
