TOWN COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING APRIL 18, 2017 4: 30 PM

At a Public Hearing and regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Exmore, Virginia, held in the Meeting Room of the J. Guy Lawson Municipal Building, 3305 Main Street, Exmore Virginia, on the 18th day of April, 2017, at 4: 30 pm Present: Mayor Douglas Greer-Present Vice-Mayor Thomas Lewis-Present Councilman G. W. Adkins--Present Councilman Bradley Doughty-Present Councilman Bryon Heaster-Present Councilman John Metz-Present Councilman Chase Sturgis-Absent STAFF PRESENT: Robert Duer, Ethel Parks, Chief DiMartino, Sgt. Zieger, Taylor Dukes, Mike Johnson.

OPEN PUBLIC HEARING: Mayor Greer opened the Public Hearing. PUBLIC HEARING CDBG FUNDING: OVERVIEW BY MR. DUKES (SLIDESHOW): Mr. Dukes explained that this is a Public Hearing to inform citizens about the $500,000 Block Grant. He noted that the DHCD requires two Public Hearings and the second one will be held on May 1, 2017 -

at 6: 30 pm. The total cost of the new well project is estimated at $1,800,000. The loan fund will cover $813,000, principal forgiveness is $550,000 and the grant is $500,000. Mr. Dukes noted that the Town needs to acquire more property for the drain fields. We are working with our attorney to acquire the property adjacent to the existing drain fields. The new wells will assure clean, healthy drinking water for our citizens and includes building a water filtration plant. The completion date is estimated for spring of 2018. PUBLIC COMMENTS: No one from the public wished to speak. CLOSE PUBLIC HEARING: Councilman Adkins made the Motion to close the Public Hearing. The Motion was seconded by ViceMayor Lewis and was passed unanimously.
