Brief history of the company: Mushtaq & Bilal (M&B), established in 1975, is one of the leading structural engineering consultancy firms, providing comprehensive and complete engineering services, from conceptual design to construction supervision, to a variety of private and public sector clients. Soon after its inception in 1975, M&B was selected as the associate design consultant for Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi, having over 1 million square feet complex and one of the most prestigious building projects ever undertaken in Pakistan. Over the years, the company has grown and evolved into a multi-disciplinary organization. Principals’ Experience: Mr. Mushtaq H. Dawood did his M. Engg. from AIT, Bangkok, in 1968. During first ten years after graduating in 1965, he worked with foreign consulting engineering firms including M/s Frederic R. Harris Inc. and M/s Cohen-Barreto-Marchartas Inc., of USA. Since 1975, he has been one of the principals of M&B and has been involved in the Structural Analysis & Design of structures; Feasibility studies/ Strength Assessment of various projects; Vetting and review of technical works. He has been actively involved in Structural Rehabilitation and Conservation of historical buildings. One of Mr. Dawood’s notable projects was his appointment as the Consultant by The World Bank for “Karonga Earthquake Damage Assessment & Reconstruction Guidelines, Malawi, Africa” in 2010. He successfully completed the assignment of post earthquake structural assessments and reconstruction guidelines for recovery of damaged schools in Malawi and an earlier appointment as Consultant to WB on housing development proposed by GOP after the October 2005 earthquake.

Mr. M. Najam Bilal, one of the principals of M&B since 1975, has 46-years of diverse experience in the Structural Analysis, Design & Construction Supervision of multistoried commercial, residential, educational & industrial building projects, bridges etc. He has been involved in providing expertise in contract documents preparation & management, liaison with Government agencies etc. After completing his graduation (B.E. Civil) from N.E.D. University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, in 1965 and before co-founding this firm, he worked and was involved in the design of HBL Tower, Karachi, Third Education Projects for World Bank at 7 different sites in Sind, Pakistan and Award winning fair-faced head office building for Shell House, Karachi, numerous bridges in Sind etc.
