2018 Confirmation Class I am pleased to present the 2018 Confirmation Class, whom we are confirming today. Over the last couple of years, we have revamped confirmation by placing a greater emphasis on discipleship process, recognizing that the decision to confirm one’s faith by professing Jesus as Savior requires both time and multiple avenues for faith growth. Consequently, these students are the first to have completed a school year-long process, which included weekly sessions with me in the fall, weekly small groups with their small group leaders in the fall, winter and spring, a fall retreat, mission and service, and regular attendance at youth ministry gatherings and Sunday worship. We are proud of this group of young men and women for the time and commitment they gave to honoring this process. I also would like to express appreciation for our small group leaders: Tyler and Elizabeth Grant, Matthew Walker, Jennifer Wyles and Caitlin Stephens. Consistency and dependability from leaders are instrumental to the success of any discipleship process, because this is how we build trust and community. These leaders have poured into these students on a weekly basis, and the evidence of their faithfulness is demonstrated through the depth of faith in these students. Please offer a special word of gratitude to them. Finally, for the many of you who are pouring your lives into leading a children’s, youth, and/or adult Sunday School/small group, some of you may question why you continue to put the time and/or effort into it. You may question whether it is worth the hassle at times. You may not be able to see the fruits of your labor in a grand display such as one on a day like today. But please hear this: God has called each of us to make disciples for the transformation of the world. Your work is incredibly important to the mission of the church, so that we may transform our surroundings. You are appreciated and valued, and your success is our success, which is ultimately God’s success. Today is incredible because these students are confirming their faith, but it is also incredible because it is a confirmation that the mission to make disciples, and the roles we all play within that process over the years, is truly worth the effort. Thanks to all for your labors. And thank you for partnering with us to see that all persons may experience the saving love of Jesus Christ! In Christ, Pastor Scott

Please join us in honoring them today, and be sure to pick up a baby bottle located in the Gathering Area or Fellowship Hall to support a special fundraiser for our local pregnancy resource center, Choices of the Heart. Please see the bulletin insert for more details. Vacation Bible School Registration Please register your child or grandchild to participate in VBS this summer, June 4-8. Online registration is available at www.statesborofirst.com/vbs. Signing children up ahead of time allows for a much smoother morning the first day of VBS, helps prevent long lines, and makes it easier to assign children to a group and group leader. Adult Volunteers Needed We need many adult volunteers for Vacation Bible School. Please sign up on the banner located in the first floor hallway. We encourage you to take part in this opportunity to minister to children in our church and community. Students volunteering through our Youth Ministry should sign up with Becca or Tyler.
