The heart of biblical religion has less to do with the existential heroics of self-abandonment than with the relentless quest for history’s vindication, for the Kingdom of God...It is not a choice between being theocentric or being anthropocentric, between a religion centered upon God or a religion centered upon man. The central mystery of the Christian faith is that God has thrown in his lot with the human struggle. He seeks no glory apart from the completion of the work he has begun. Fr. Richard John Neuhaus, Time Toward Home
