6th Grade UNIT 10 OVERVIEW: Coordinate Plane Unit Outcomes At the end of this unit, your student should be able to:  Identify which quadrant a point is located in by reading the sings of any given ordered pair, also locating a point that is reflected across one or both axes  Identify the distance between two points on the coordinate plane by using the absolute value of a number  Solve real world problems by graphing points in all four quadrants of the coordinate plane  Create an equation based on the dependent and independent variable  Find missing values in a data table and plot the points on a coordinate plane

Key Standards Addressed Connections to Common Core/NC Essential Standards 6.NS.6b Understand signs of numbers in ordered pairs as indicating locations in quadrants of the coordinate plan; recognize that when two ordered pairs differ only in signs, the locations of the points are related by reflects across one or both axes.
