Answer the following question in about 600 words : Discuss the concept of Open and Distance Learning as distinguished from the correspondence education. Explain basic principles underlying the ODL system. OR 'Open and Distance Learning system has evolved a long way'. Explain the generations of ODL system and its need and relevance in the present context.

Answer the following question in about 600 words : Describe the mechanisms of "Learner Support Services" and its importance in the ODL system. OR Explain the characteristics of Self-Learning Materials (SLMs). What skills are required in the learner to get benefited from SLM ?
