Vision: “The ultimate aim of a branch councilor is to enhance the future prospects of all students in the Dept”    

Crack shot preparation and exploration of all possible avenues & opportunities to ensure 100% placements Create awareness among 1st & 2nd year students regarding the available academic, research and industrial opportunities Help every student in the department to recognize and realize their career goals through personal attention Improvement of department facilities

Contacting companies        

To explore all possible avenues to contact companies and prepare an exhaustive list using list of other IITs, NITs, Professors’ contacts, IITMAA, OAA, LinkedIn, Research Park & Alumni as well as the companies that students interned at to enhance the core profile job opportunities Foreign companies (Middle East, Singapore & Japanese) will be contacted for international offers via mediatory organizations Involvement of Professors and company visits* will be made to improve conversions , especially for companies that are positive More number of core start-ups will be contacted; companies in southern part of India especially Chennai will be targeted LinkedIn Premium account will be used to connect to and garner contacts of companies and Alumni* A wish list of students for companies to be contacted will be prepared and these companies will be given preference Details of off-campus opportunities from various job publication websites will be shared with the students Preparation of a student profile to highlight curriculum details and a booklet to provide sample profiles of students which will be used to pitch to companies *

Placement preparation          

Conduct placement drive, resume making fundae session and resume review by seniors The updated course summaries & preparation material will be shared in a well-organized platform (Google Site/Google Drive)* and links to useful online resources will be shared regularly Practice questions for core and non-core preparation will be posted everyday* and regular online and offline mock tests for both will be conducted Coding fundae sessions will be organized in this semester* Conduct mock GDs; mock interviews with the help of IAR Team Preparation of department bluebook by taking feedback regarding companies from placed seniors Fundae sessions on soft skills, GDs & HR interview by Alumni, HS and DoMS Professors Crash course by Professors to highlight industrial aspects of courses* Company specific reading material & feedback procured from Alumni will be shared with the students as a replacement for PPTs* Career counseling sessions by Alumni to help students make an informed decision about their career*

Academics & Curriculum    

Preparation of a catalogue of department courses with relevant details by taking feedback from students* Preparation of database of the projects being pursued under various Professors and share it with 1st,2nd & 3rd year students to encourage URPs* Share details regarding exchange programs in foreign universities by collaborating with the IAR Team*

Internships      

Conduct Internship drive, resume fundae session & mock GDs for the 3rd year students* An internship guideline book will be prepared and shared with the students Preparation material will be shared with the students for core as well as non-core profiles* Core companies coming for placements will be invited for internships Utilization of contacts of Professors, Alumni, M.Tech. & PhD students who have work experience* and contacts of companies seniors interned at to enhance opportunities for both industrial & research internships Off campus opportunities from websites like Internshala.com, LinkedIn, letsintern.com will be shared to ensure all possible opportunities are utilized

Higher studies       

Interested students will be added to the existing app group An App fundae session will be organized apping for higher studies and research internships An App coordinator will be selected to catalogue details of foreign universities and the opportunities available there* Preparation of a department App book; a repository of the SoPs will be prepared and shared with the students* Conduct webinars to clarify doubts and SoP review* by seniors who apped Alumni in foreign universities shall be contacted for details regarding research programs & internship opportunities in their college* A CAT fundae session will be organized & relevant preparation material will be shared*

Department facilities   

A Department library will be set up by collecting books from passing out students* Installation of a printer in DCF which can be used under the supervision of TA* Biometric entry for DCF*

Transparency      

A Google calendar to keep track of tests, resume deadlines, fundae sessions, GDs etc. will be shared with the students Updates of the response of the companies being contacted will be shared every fortnightly Spreadsheet containing details of all the companies open to the department will be shared with details like profile offered, programs it is open to, salary etc. Complete details & clear description of the profile offered by each company shall be shared An anonymous feedback form will be attached with all mails in the signature to invite constructive feedback Two GBMs will be conducted in the odd semester and one in the even semester for discussion & evaluation of work done by Chemical Placement Team

Agenda  Placement Coordinator/Placement Support Team selection- 3PCs and 4 PSTs will be selected. 1 Internship Coordinator will be selected ( by Internship Head)  PC/PST training session  Coding fundae sessions by CS students will be organized for the interested students  App fundae session which will cover fundaes on GRE, TOEFL, SoP writing, choice of universities and research internships like SN Bose, MITACS & DAAD  CAT fundae session  Awareness session for 2nd years regarding importance of 2nd year internships,  Placement Drive will be conducted to provide details of the selection process of all core companies and preparation for the same. A department level non-core drive will be organized & fundaes on placement preparation for non-core companies will be shared sector-wise: Consult, finance, analytics and coding will be covered  A Resume building fundae session will be organized  Coding fundae session for interested students by CS students  A course catalogue will be prepared by collecting details like brief description of the course & industrial relevance from Professors and also the feedback of students regarding the courses  Feedback to be collected from passing out seniors for update of Placement Brochure  Collection of placement feedback, books & SoPs from passing out seniors  Preparation of master list of companies to be contacted  Placement Brochure to be updated  Preparation of Department Bluebook with the help of placement feedback collected. A booklet of sample profiles of students with details like academic achievements, projects, job interests and co-curricular activities will be prepared.  BTP/DDP feedback collection from seniors  PCs/PSTs start calling new companies  Start posting preparation material in the placement Google group as well as for internships. For every weekday, 1 topic will be allotted from puzzles, core, verbal & quantitative aptitude, reasoning, case studies and HR preparation and practice questions pertaining to them will be shared daily as per allotment  HR questions will be mailed to the group every  Preparation of department App book with details of seniors who apped, their projects, recommendations, universities applied to and admits received  Company visits to improve conversion ratio will be made and a brief presentation will be used to pitch about our student profile & department  Material to be posted in the group  App coordinator to catalogue details of foreign universities seniors applied to, available research internship opportunities, exchange programs and PG programs  Start contacting follow up companies (past recruiters) and PCs/PSTs follow up new companies  Company visits Alumni will be contacted for inviting their companies for IIT Madras Campus Recruitment  Online mock tests will be started
