Join Us The Mandala Group is excited to announce our First International and Domestic Volunteer Program to be help in Mumbai, India from 3rd June - 5th September 2016. We welcome You to Join Us in the field to have maximum impact! Your will engage in a wide range of activities from Pitching to Corporations to Training Mothers on how to Read to Their Children. “Volunteering for Mandala Group in India is like interning at corporate organisations whilst volunteering for a charity, a combination of two different worlds, which is very exciting and challenging at the same time” - Sylvia Han.

Phone Interview After reviewing your application, we will arrange a Skype or phone call to explain/discuss: • What project you can lead or be a member of (potential role) • How the summer program will run • Details on transport and accommodation • Your planned dates • Questions you have for us

Arrive After we have confirmed your place, you should plan to arrive in Mumbai, India on your agreed start date. (The total time you spend in India is flexible but it needs to be at minimum 3 weeks between 3rd June - 5th September. Should you wish to volunteer outside these dates, we have online opportunities and will need to discuss case by case)

Finish Our official program will conclude on the 5th September. You can use this opportunity to travel the beautiful India! Should you wish to continue volunteering with Mandala Group, we have Full-Time opportunities, Online Member programs and our Future On The Ground programs.

Your Role Mandala Group is a Social Enterprise, part corporate part NGO. Your time with us will reflect this as you mix pitching to billion dollar corporates to playing in preschools with children. Below is a list of regular activities we have conducted in India previously. Teacher training - Supporting our product teleStory, you can find yourself training pre-schools teachers on how to use teleStory. For instance, you will be training teachers on how to run a library system and how to sign up new families. The teachers are the key connectors to the local community for teleStory. NGO Partnerships - NGO’s are the key to distributing the Mandala Groups solutions. The NGO’s often hold the keys to reaching the last mile and have a deep understanding of local communities. During your time, you will have the opportunity to pitch our solutions to NGO’s, negotiate a viable partnership strategy and then begin implementing the plan. Investment and Corporate Pitching - The Mandala Group forms partnerships with corporates and telecoms to generate revenues to stay sustainable. During your time, you will reach out to corporates through attending networking events, pitch a partnership proposal and manage our corporate relationships. Life in India Mandala Group is located in the heart of the major Indian city Mumbai. Mumbai is the Financial capital of India and home to the World’s 3rd largest slum Dharavi. Here in Mumbai, you can witness the wealthiest of Indians living side by side with the poorest.

Day by day, we will mostly travel by Rickshaw as we move between the office, our CSR meetings and to the NGO Preschools. It is the most popular way to travel around Mumbai – it is a mini adventure every time! When hunger calls, fear not! Because India is home to notoriously good Food! The Picture is a local Mumbai favourite, Pav Bhaji. Especially for those who can handle the spice, Mumbai is a city with fine cuisine from around the world.

Accommodation will be organised by Mandala Group. We will live together in a shared apartments. The apartment will be full of all your homely necessities, but it won’t quite be as grand as the Taj Mahal. Accommodation fees will be shared between the group and cost approximately £350 per month. Mumbai has an active Nightlife for those that wish to let their hair down after a hard day making a difference in this world. Mandala Group will ensure on a few Team Bonding Adventures.

Weekends will provide a great opportunity for you to get out and explore the city of Mumbai. Popular places vary from the historical Gateway of India to taking a well-deserved rest or romantic walk along the beautiful Bandstand.

Finances As a new start up social enterprise, we know that finances can often be a key issue of concern! At the Mandala Group, we will try to cover as much of your expenses here in Mumbai. However, there are some large and very key expenses, which our budget at the moment sadly cannot cover.

Flights Air Fairs will be your responsibility. We recommend using www.skyscanner.com when booking your flight and understand if you need a +/- 3 day window to get the best priced flights. When arriving in Mumbai, we will collect you from the Airport and transport you to our humble residency.

Accommodation As mentioned before, we will organise the accommodation for you and it will be of a good quality. However, you will have to bear the cost of approximately £350 per month. We will confirm this number once volunteer numbers have been confirmed. If you wish to arrange your own accommodation then this is perfectly fine.

Food We estimate a budget of £10 per day to be plenty of money to increase your waist band by an inch or two during your stay.

Insurance We strongly recommend you to purchase Travel Insurance prior to your departure. Mumbai is a safe city with low crime rates, but better to be safe than sorry.

Visa Ensure that you are traveling with valid documents. We recommend everyone traveling from outside of India to obtain Tourist Visas from their countries of origin. Mandala Group is yet to register as an Indian entity and as such, is unable to sponsor any Visa Applications at this time.
