Friday 10th February 2017 Message from the Principal This week we have successfully managed extreme heat as well as rainy days. Considering the difficulties experienced in the heat, our students have been wonderfully engaged in learning. This week marks the start of our music program where we have Central Coast Conservatorium of Music tutors coming into our school to provide expert tuition to selected Year 7 and 8 classes during their music lessons. Students have been asked to select an instrument to learn and will be allowed to take their hire instrument home once they return their hire agreement in which they promise to look after the instrument. The end result will be large numbers of students having the opportunity to learn an instrument and play together in a large ensemble. Students are learning both the guitar and a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument. Most Year 7 parents have been fully informed of everything relating to this program during the Orientation Evening last year. Year 8 Technology Opportunity Class and Enrichment Class parents and any Year 7 Creative and Performing Arts Academy, Enrichment Class or Technology Opportunity Class parents still with questions they would like to ask are invited to a Parent Information Afternoon at 5:30pm Wednesday 15th February 2017 in the Lisarow High School Library. Any student wishing to learn one of these instruments, not in one of the listed classes, are asked to see Mr Chung for information. Cooperation from parents paying fees in relation to this program would be greatly appreciated. However, we would like all students in the selected classes to have this opportunity, so please contact the principal if you have any concerns with the payment of these fees. There is a link below outlining the fees for 2017. All contributions from parents are used effectively and efficiently in the provision of quality education for our students. Students wishing to catch the bus to and or from Gosford Pool for the Swimming Carnival are asked to please return their note indicating their intentions to allow an appropriate number of buses to be organised. We would like to have accurate numbers so that we do not waste money on empty buses. Permission note link can be found below. Adjustments are being made to the current timetable and we are anticipating starting a new timetable to begin week 6. We hope to publish a draft timetable in week 5. Any students with timetable requests to please see their Year Advisor. Thank you very much to the parents who attended the P&C Meeting last week. It was wonderful to hear positive feedback and have such active engagement from parents in contributing to the setting of our school’s behavioural expectations and goals. Mr Gray will be on leave for the remainder of Term 1 and Mr Surwald and Mrs Walsh will continue in their roles as Relieving Deputy Principals. Hoping you manage to keep cool over the weekend. Warm regards, Mrs Nicole Hunt Principal
