CAREER GOAL To pursue a career in a competitive industry which will allow me to incorporate my personality and people skills into my everyday work. My ideal role would challenge me constantly with tasks and projects which exercise and develop my skills while also rewarding me when I am successful in my achievements. I’d prefer a position which will utilise my ability to work as a team member, while still allowing me the opportunity to act independently and individually.
SKILLS Communication Skills Always an able communicator, I have developed more effective communications skills especially over the past few years. Building on my experience managing a business, Djing at loud and chaotic events, long voyages at sea, and also through team sports. I have learnt the importance of face-to-face contact, and also mastered the subtle nuances of impersonal communication such as phone conversations, email and text.
Organisational Skills From very young I have always taken responsibility for my own actions and acted independently. This has led me on an exciting adventure to form my promotions label No Ordinary Moment, which has achieved notable success putting on dance events here in Wellington. This year I set out to transfer the skills attained from those projects to the wider events industry and applied for post-grad diploma in event management at Wellington Institutes of Technology. (Refer to work and education history for details) Financial Skills I have dealt with event budgets of up to $50,000. I am proficient in raising funds and allocating them accordingly. Currently sponsored by Jagermeister, 2600 vodka and Sennheiser headphones, I posses sharp insight into the process involved in applying for and acting on behalf of sponsors and other financial actors. My projects have involved buying and hiring equipment, paying performers, venues and subcontractors. (Refer to work history for details) People Skills I have always been a people person; I am approachable, friendly and welcoming. My parents would say I am a socialite and have a natural gregarious nature. My friends would say I’m fun, positive and a good friend. My employer would say that my rapport with co-workers and customers is an asset, and that I am an adaptable, keen and hard working member of a team, even under pressure. Leadership Skills As a leader, I am confident and enthusiastic. Throughout my youth I was identified as a leader and participated in leadership programmes throughout. In 2008 I completed and excelled in a three week leadership course at Outward Bound. I believe I posses many qualities which constitute a leader, and have always taken on responsibilities and executed them successfully. Technological Skills I am Internet and Email proficient with advanced skills in MS Office, including MS Project. A fast learner when it comes to specialist software such as point of sale systems, bookings systems, databases, management programmes etc. Four years experience in radio, as a Dj and an event promoter has given me a sound knowledge in setting up and using large and small scale PA systems, sound and lighting equipment, projectors and broadcasting equipment.
