Background Vereta Tanner Lee was born in Amite and raised in Greensburg, Louisiana on a farm. Ms. Lee is the seventh of ten children. She was educated in the St. Helena Parish School System. Ms. Lee received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Southern University of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She furthered her education by pursuing certifications in Supervision and Administration, Guidance Counseling, Technology, and also received a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2009. She has lived in East Baton Rouge Parish for 35 plus years. Ms. Lee was elected in September of 2006 to serve as a school board member for the new rezoned District 2. This is her third term serving as a school board member. She has been a public servant all her life serving children. In 1984 she began her employment in East Baton Rouge Parish as a teacher and mentor to elementary and middle school children. Ms. Lee is currently employed with Baker City Schools as Supervisor of Students Support Services, where she lives by her motto “No Excuses, It’s Time to Put Children First”. She was elected by her peers to serve on the Board of Director of Louisiana School Boards Association (LSBA) District 2, which includes the following parishes; West and East Baton Rouge Parish, Livingston, Point Coupee, East and West Feliciana, St. Helena, Tangipahoa, Washington, West Baton Rouge, Iberville, Ascension Parishes, City of Bogalusa, City of Baker, Zachary Community & Central Community Schools.
