Obey God 1 John 2:3-4 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. Job 36:11 11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. God can speak to you through (1) what you read, (2) by the Holy Spirit, and by (3) His still small voice (see 1 Kings 19:11-13). Proverbs 19:20 20

How to Know God’s Name But, how do you know what you are hearing is from God?

First, make sure your heart is right with God and that you do not have any unrepentant sin that comes between you and God. Second, be patient and wait for God’s answer. God may speak to you in a still small voice and you need to listen for it. Third, test what you are hearing according to the test of the spirits found in 1 John 4:1-4. God’s Spirit will always tell you that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, while an evil spirit will deny that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh.

1 John 4:1-4 4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. One important point to mention regarding John 10:28: “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” This does not mean that we cannot leave Jesus, if we choose to. We can reject Christ. Only those who continue in God’s goodness shall be Jesus Christ’s sheep (see Romans 11:21-22).

For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 22
