Human Trafficking and Stalking Awareness and Prevention Month Proclamation Signing & Presentation of Resolutions GCASAFV in partnership with the Governor’s Community Outreach – Federal Programs Office (GCO – FPO) and the US Attorney’s Office, held the 2018 Human Trafficking & Stalking Awareness & Prevention Month Proclamation Signing & Resolution on January 10 at the Guam Museum Multi-Purpose Auditorium. Attorney General Elizabeth Barrett-Anderson opened the event by recognizing the community’s service providers and acknowledging that Guam is not immune to human trafficking. Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio presented and signed the Human Trafficking and Stalking proclamation declaring January as National Anti-Slavery & Human Trafficking Awareness & Prevention Month and National Stalking Awareness & Prevention Month. Vice-Speaker Therese Terlaje, Senator Frank Aguon Jr. and Senator Regine Biscoe Lee presented this year’s Legislative Resolutions. GCASAFV Executive Director Cynthia Cabot closed the event by thanking and acknowledging the good work of the island’s service providers. 1

February 2018 Human Trafficking & Stalking Awareness & Prevention Month The Human Trafficking & Stalking Awareness & Prevention Month Wave followed the Human Trafficking and Stalking Awareness & Prevention Proclamation & Resolution Signing. Wavers gathered along Marine Corps Drive across Chamorro Village to raise awareness for Human Trafficking and Stalking and promote prevention of these crimes. Thank you to all who joined us! 2018 kNOw MORE Community Series Training Addressing Sexual Assault & Prevention GCASAFV held the “kNOw MORE Community Series Training Addressing Sexual Assault & Prevention” on January 22. Members of the island community gathered at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Social Hall in Toto to listen to Stella Gallegos with the New Mexico Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs, Inc.’s (NMCSAP). Ms. Gallegos defined and presented on topics such as school and employee sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual harassment, consent, as well as prevention techniques. Thank you to GCO – FPO for supporting GCASAFV for this event! 2018 kNOw MORE Training on Abuse Across the Lifespan Series 3: Addressing Sexual Assault & Prevention With funding support from the DPHSS Sexual Violence Prevention & Education Program (SVPEP), GCASAFV held the “kNOw MORE Training on Abuse Across the Lifespan Series 3: Addressing Sexual Assault & Prevention” on January 23 at the Hilton Resort Guam, The Gallery. Ms. Gallegos presented on topics such as “Sexual Assault Prevention 101: Real World Safety Rules,” “Sexual Assault Prevention: How to Talk to Your Children About Personal Body Safety,” and “Sexual Harassment: Unacceptable Behavior at School / Workplace” to conference attendees. Representatives from Guam’s direct-service providers served on a panel to answer attendees’ questions. Representatives from the DPHSS’ Bureau of Social Services Administration Child Protective Services and the Division of Senior Citizens Bureau of Adult Protective Services presented on mandated reporting for their respective demographics.
