Kindergarten Weekly Poems

Thanks so much for downloading my freebie Kindergarten weekly poems. You will find on the following slide a week-by-week pacing of the poems. These poems follow closely along holidays, special dates, seasons, etc. Feel free to change up the order in which you introduce the poems. In my classroom I display the poems onto my Smartboard so my students can easily view the poem. I also have a second set of poems printed for our classroom library. Once students have made a connection to the poem they will want to continually read it independently. I introduce the weekly poem on Mondays during our morning meeting. We then will continually review the poem each day during our morning meetings. If you have any questions about the poems or how to use the poems in my classroom please feel free to email me at [email protected]

Picking Apples

(Tune of Frere Jacques)

Picking apples, picking apples, 'Til we're done, 'til we're done, Picking all the apples, Picking all the apples, 'Til we're done, 'til we're done. Climb a ladder, climb a ladder, In a tree, in a tree Hello, everybody; Hello, everybody, Look at me, look at me. Making applesauce, making applesauce Swish, swish, swish, swish, swish, swish Pouring the applesauce, Pouring the applesauce In a dish, in a dish. Eating applesauce, eating applesauce, Yum, yum, yum; yum, yum, yum. Eating all the applesauce, Eating all the applesauce. Now we're done, now we're done.

All the Leaves are Falling Down (Tune of London Bridges Falling Down)

All the leaves are falling down, falling down, falling down (pretend leaves are falling down)

All the leaves are falling down, it is fall. Take the rake and rake them up, rake them up, rake them up (pretend you are raking leaves)

Take the rake and rake them up, it is fall. Make a pile and jump right in, jump right in, jump right in, (pretend to jump into leaves)

Make a pile and jump right in, it is fall.

Little Bunny Foo Foo hoppin’ through the forest, scoopin’ up the field mice {chorus} and boppin’ em on the head. And down came the Blue Fairy, and she said: Little Bunny Foo Foo I don’t want to see you scoopin’ up the field mice and boppin’ em on the head. And now I’ll give you two chances, and if you do that again, I’ll turn you into a goon {chorus} And down came the Blue Fairy, and she said: Little Bunny Foo Foo I don’t want to see you scoopin’ up the field mice and boppin’ em on the head. And now I’ll give you one more chance, and if you keep it up, I’ll turn you into a goon. {chorus} And down came the Blue Fairy, and she said: Little Bunny Foo Foo I don’t want to see you scoopin’ up the field mice and boppin’ em on the head. You disobeyed me three times, so now POOF! you are a GOON!

Hey, diddle, diddle, The cat and the fiddle, The cow jumped over the moon; The little dog laughed To see such sport, And the dish ran away with the spoon.

The fourth one said, "Let's run and run and run!" The fifth one said, "I'm ready for some fun!" Ooooo went the wind And out went the lights And the five little pumpkins Rolled out of sight.

Old MACDONALD had a farm E-I-E-I-O And on his farm he had a cow E-I-E-I-O With a moo moo here And a moo moo there Here a moo, there a moo Everywhere a moo moo Old MacDonald had a farm E-I-E-I-O

Five little ducks that I once knew, Fat were three and skinny were two. But, the one little duck with the feather on his back, He ruled the others with a quack, quack, quack! Quack, quack, quack! Quack, quack, quack! He ruled the others with a quack, quack, quack! Down to the water they would go, Wiggle woggle, wiggle woggle, To and fro, But, the one little duck with the feather on his back, He ruled the others with a quack, quack, quack! Quack, quack, quack! Quack, quack, quack! He ruled the others with a quack, quack, quack! (sing the following verse slowly) Down from the water they would come, Wiggle woggle, wiggle woggle, Ho, ho, hum, But, the one little duck with the feather on his back, He ruled the others with a quack, quack, quack! Quack, quack, quack! Quack, quack, quack! He ruled the others with a quack, quack, quack

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Dingle Dangle Scarecrow

When all the cows were sleeping and the sun had gone to bed Up jumped the scarecrow and this is what he said! I'm a dingle, dangle scarecrow with a flippy floppy hat I can shake my hands like this and shake my feet like that When all the hens were roosting and the moon behind the cloud Up jumped the scarecrow and shouted very loud I'm a dingle, dangle scarecrow with a flippy floppy hat I can shake my hands like this and shake my feet like that I'm a dingle, dangle scarecrow with a flippy floppy hat I can shake my hands like this And shake my feet like that

Run, run as fast as you can. You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!

Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer You know Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer, and Vixen, Comet, and Cupid, and Donder and Blitzen But do you recall The most famous reindeer of all Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose and if you ever saw it you would even say it glows. All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names They never let poor Rudolph play in any reindeer games. Then one foggy Christmas eve Santa came to say: "Rudolph with your nose so bright, won't you guide my sleigh tonight?" Then all the reindeer loved him as they shouted out with glee, Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, you'll go down in history!

A circle's like a ball, A circle's like a ball, Round and round It never stops. A circle's like a ball! A square is like a box, A square is like a box, It has four sides, They are the same. A square is like a box! A triangle has 3 sides, A triangle has 3 sides, Up the mountain, Down, and back. A triangle has 3 sides!
