WEEK AT A GLANCE April 24 - 28, 2017
Friday, April 28 will be Ms. Swanson’s last day at James W. Hill! A northerner at heart, she is going to work at her beloved Algonquin Park. We will miss her wonderful, positive approach to life and wish her the very best in all her future endeavours. Please feel free to drop by the office and say goodbye!
Please note the date change for our school garden clean-up. Due to the annual Kloet Re/Max Clearview clean up our Gardening Club will meet this Sunday, April 23 from 9 am to 2 pm. Thank you to those parents who have been following the rules of the parking lot and helping us keep everyone safe. Please park in a designated spot or on the street so as to keep all access lanes clear and traffic moving. Consider walking as the weather warms up. Kindergarten registration for the 2017-2018 school year continues! If you have a school aged child or a neighbour who has one, please let them know that registration for Junior Kindergarten is still open. The birth year for students entering JK in the Fall of 2017, is 2013. A ‘new student’ orientation for our JKs and other new students will be held later in the school year (May/ June) in order for us to include as many new families as possible.
Once again George Kloet and his Re/Max team will host a Clearview cleanup! This will take place on Saturday, April 29 from 9 am - Noon. There will be tethered rides, coffee and treats, raffle draws, pizza twirls. Participants will be provided with gloves, bags and park maps. There will be a BBQ at 11:30 am. All are welcome! Earlier this week, your child brought home the Spring Bulb flyer from Vesey’s, along with an order form. Please take a moment to look through the flyer and if you wish to purchase any items, please make sure that your order is in by May 1, 2017. We have a few extra flyers and order forms in the office. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used for the JWH gardens. Thank you for your support! The staff appreciation lunch is fast approaching! It will take place during 2nd nutrition break on Friday, May 5. If you are able to provide a dish for the luncheon or would like to donate funds through Cashless schools, or require additional information, please contact Mrs. Reid, the luncheon coordinator. Mrs. Reid can be reached at
[email protected]. Thank you for your participation and Mrs. Reid for organizing this event!
If you are moving and know that you will not be in the James W. Hill boundary in September, 2017, please notify the office as soon as possible. It is important for us to have accurate numbers of students in each grade in September so that the Board can staff us accordingly and also to manage our space requirements. Thank you! Class building is a timely process where a number of criteria are considered by staff and administration, as students are placed in a class. If you would like to share some insights with regard to your child’s learning style, please feel free to pass these along by letter or e-mail to Ms. Paziuk by no later than
Friday, May 12.
