THE SEVENTH TRUMPET Vol. 75 No. 7-8 July - August 2017

Dear Readers, Thanks for your support and your prayers as this ministry continues on. Even though the road may be bumpy at times, HIS path is clear. Jack and I mention you all by name on a regular basis in prayer. We are a family. The Family of God!

Jerad Moffitt, Station Manager at KCMH Radio Station Mtn. Home, AR

This issue is overflowing with lots of Good Stuff! Pages 3 & 10 look like a newspaper article to you and I actually feel that it is message for the Church today! When Jerad preached this message at our church a few weeks ago, I asked him for a copy for the Trumpet and he sent it to my email right there and then. Thank you Jerad! I am excited to introduce you to a few friends of mine. I have known these dear sisters for 1015 years and we have remained in touch from time to time over Facebook, emails and phone calls. We share Jesus, and we also share Multiple Sclerosis as well as a willingness to spread God’s love and encouragement to others. They were placed into my life by our loving Heavenly Father. When I asked them if they would share with our Trumpet family, they were willing to do so, freely without financial aid and I thank you! Isn’t God good?! Love and Prayers, Jack and Juanita Coy

Its all Rubbish Without Jesus! For more than 200 years, the American flag has been the symbol of our nation’s unity, as well as a source of pride and inspiration for millions of citizens. Born on June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress determined that the flag of the United Stated be thirteen stripes, alternating between seven red and six white; and that the union be fifteen stars, white in a blue field representing a new constellation. The 24 horizontal stripes represent the original 13 colonies, while the stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well; red symbolizes hardiness and valor; white signifies purity and innocence; and blue represents vigilance, perseverance and justice. Traditionally, a symbol of liberty, the American flag has carried the message of freedom, and inspired Americans, both at home and abroad. It is our responsibility to continue to protect and preserve the rights, privileges, and freedoms that we, as Americans, enjoy today. The United States flag represents who we are. It stands for the freedom we all share and the pride and patriotism we feel for our country. We cherish its legacy, as a beacon of hope to one and all. Long may it wave. But this seems kinda problema c, don't you think? Because we can't be perfect. So if the world is looking at the Church, and expec ng it to be perfect before it's credibility is restored, then they'll be looking and wai ng forever. See friend, if the Church were a book, the world would only see two chapters out of it: The 1st chapter is: The Sunday morning, shoes shine chapter. This is the page where we as the Church body look like we've got it all together. The whole family is loaded up in the Sta on Wagon, headed to Sunday School. The 2nd chapter is: The Crash and Burn Chapter. This is the one where the church makes headline news for all but good reasons: when the Pastor is found out that he's an alcoholic. What's missing in this rela onship between The Church and the world? We are only human, we aren't perfect either, we don't have it all together, we struggle with the same day to day things that the world does, and we're guilty of sinning just like everyone else. Wanna know why this is the missing element? We are afraid for others to see our faults. Think about it: the world already judges you because of your imperfec ons, they don't even know you, so what do you think is going to happen when you actually open and begin to reveal who you truly are. The things that you really struggle with. So who can you go to to receive that healing and restora on and wholeness talked about in James 5? I believe this is what's missing most inside churches today. We all can agree that we're just human right? Not perfect, or even close, we struggle every day to die to this flesh and let the Spirit man dictate our ac ons. You want to know why that Pastor who struggled with alcoholism couldn't beat it? Cause he was on his own, he had no one to go to, no one he felt that he could trust. He couldn't confess, so he fought with it on his own, un l he couldn't hide it anymore; then he was found out in the worst way - and who takes the blame for that? - - The Church. But what if that were not the case? What if that Pastor had someone to go to in the beginning whom he could trust and confess to that he was beginning to struggle with alcoholism, how might that situa on change? Gala ans 6:2

says “Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ”. What if the culture of this Church was one of trust, companionship, and confession, where there was no judgement or condemna on for one another, but only love, and grace, and mercy. What if people were eager to confess because they knew that through confession there is healing. Don't you think that if the Church was able to confess all the secret sins and struggles we face every day to each other that we would begin to gain a li$le victory over them? Don't you think that if you didn't have to walk alone with your struggles, and that every me you felt weak you had someone to go to and confess to, that you wouldn't be dealing with the same issue over and over and over again for years? See, I believe that the key to redemp on inside the Church is not perfec on for the world to see, but confession. If the world would look at the Church and see a body of imperfect people just like themselves, but doesn't judge, or condemn, or claim to be something that they are not - The face of the Church would look as it was intended to: Sinner by Nature, Saved by Grace. Flawed from flesh, Redeemed by Christ. In order for the world to see the Church this way, The Church must see the Church this way. So here is where we are challenged. So, I'll ask: Do you have someone that you could go to in complete confidence, outside of the Lord AND your spouse, for confession? Someone that you could bring your struggles to and seek guidance and wisdom? Someone that will bear your load with you? Who here does NOT have someone like that in their life other than the Lord and Your Spouse? Those of you who say that you have someone like that in your life, let me ask this: Are you going to that person regularly and confessing? Are you actually exercising James 5:16? Now here is the second part of this challenge, and just as important: Are you that person for someone else? Are you that person who someone comes to regularly for confession, for guidance, for wisdom, and for help to carrying others burdens? - If you are not that person for someone else, why not? 10

Confession 2.0

Jerad Moffitt

I want to talk to you about the power of Confession. We are going to really dive into the role of open confession inside of the believer's life. Let's take a look at what scripture has to say about this topic: "Why should we confess?" Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. (One transla on says healed; another restored; another whole) From these three verses we can conclude that through confession we receive Salva on, we receive cleansing from sins and all unrighteousness and we receive healing, restora on, wholeness. The first two verses share this one thing… confession is done by you to who? Who has the power to save and cleanse us from all unrighteousness? God The third verse is unique in that confession here doesn't take place between you and God; it takes place between you and your neighbor. So, how many out there would like to receive salva on, forgiveness of sins and all unrighteousness, and also, healing, restora on, wholeness? The key to receiving them? Confession not just to God though - to one another as well. Here is a curve ball ques on: In a general sense here in America, do you feel like the Church is viewed in a posi ve way or nega ve way to the unbeliever and unchurched? Nega)ve - but why? I mean, the Church is the sole provider of real truth and real hope in today's world. We offer something that no amount of money can buy and no medicine or drug or drink can replicate. Where else can you go for peace and healing when you've lost a loved one? Who or what else can offer the opportunity to see that loved 3

one again? Where else can you go and receive freedom from the chains of addic on? Where else can you go and receive eternal life in paradise with the creator of the universe? This is the Church: the vehicle that Grace moves through. We are the avenue that God chose to use to spread the Gospel and advance His Kingdom. Why and how would anyone see us in a nega ve way? Well, it's because they've heard us say all these things - that we offer hope and joy, freedom from addic on, comfort and peace in suffering, eternal life. That's what they've heard, but what they've seen doesn't paint the same picture. They've seen the headlines on na onal news describing another religious figure arrested for unspeakable things... They've seen the deacon of this or that church leave the parking lot and get cut off by someone on Hwy 62 and respond with profanies and slander... They've witnessed the women of some bible study tear down another individual with their words of gossip and backbi ng… And it's because they've seen and heard a different story than the one we're telling, we're painted as hypocrites, and disingenuous. Here is the most unfortunate part about all of this: Some of it - not all - but some of the reasons why we as the church are portrayed as such things, are true. We have been guilty of being hypocri cal, disingenuous, we've gossiped and lied about our fellow brother and sister, we've acted in anger in public for the unchurched to see and witness - and even our leadership have failed by commiDng sins that are hard to even comprehend. So what can we, as the Church do to combat this unfortunate situa on that we seem to be in? Even here inside our local community? Well, for one, we could try to be completely perfect, never making any mistakes. So that way, the world never sees us fall and our reputa on would then be spotless-because we'd be perfect. (Con nued on page 10)

you are one of a kind and not by mistake. He knows what you are going thru Right Now. Take this moment and soak in His peace. Listen to what He says. Give the Lord God your heart and let Him do a new thing in you today. Let His unconditional love wash you clean and then be thoroughly rinsed in His grace oh so divine. He is able to do just what He said He would do: He is able to complete the good work in you. Yo, that’s it! 15 minutes of Peace. Peace in 15 minutes. “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14, NIV.

PEACE IN 15 MINUTES It is quiet still, even though airplanes, cars and people are zooming by. I am at peace. For one of the first time in my life, I’m not looking for someone to sit with me, to attend to me, or even to acknowledge that I am here. Honestly, I am at peace and simply content and thankful for the time at hand. Here I sit with 15 minutes for a break in the midst of my hectic job, realizing some people don’t have 15 minutes to spare, or even 15 minutes to bear. But some people really just need 15 minutes so they can breathe, so they can feel - so they can live again. Because in 15 minutes some people will die and some children will be born. Some people will be relieved and some will begin to grieve. In 15 minutes, many individuals will experience true healing and restoration, while many others will begin a time of suffering. Some will enter Hell, others will enter Heaven. I hope the latter is greater. Our world is so wicked and evil, but yet there is no excuse good enough to say you did not have a chance to call on God. His mercy and love is so endless and abundant!! Please take a moment now, even if it’s only 15 minutes or 15 seconds. Just pause. He loves you, He created you;

If people would put just a little of Jesus in their life they would sweeten up also. Jonah was in a storm at sea, and then he went even deeper in trouble. He was swallowed by a whale and it took him to the bottom of the sea because he was running from what God wanted him to do. That was a self-inflicted storm. Many people cause their own storms by not listening to God. Let us look at these two men. Peter went down to the same sea shore as Jonah did. In Acts 10, Peter went to Simon the tanner’s house; Jonah got on a ship. Peter went up on the house top and Jonah went down in the ship. Peter fell into a trance from God and Jonah fell asleep. Peter’s obedience got people saved and Jonah’s disobedience almost got a city destroyed if he had not repented. Obedience can stop a lot of storms if we don’t listen. Noah was in a great flood and he and his family survived because he listened to God. Psalms 107:28-30, “Then they cried unto the L123 in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.” The only way out of a storm is by and through the Lord God and His son Jesus. Isaiah 25:4 says “God is a refuge from the storm.” Get under his wings for there is room there for all who need shelter. Nahum 1:3 tells us “The Lo23 hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm.” No storm will ever have its way with us as long as we hold on to Jesus. In the text, all who held on to the ship were saved. In Mark 4:39, He spoke “Peace be still” and then there was a great calm. I have been through things, and you have also, that have shaken us up and brought a wonder or fear to us. Then all the sudden there was a calm in our soul because Jesus told the storm to cease. Psalms 29:3 reads, “The voice of the L123 is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the L123 is upon many

waters.” It is hard to see anything much in a storm, but never fear. Jesus is riding right over you on that storm and He will make sure it does you no harm. Psalms 66:6, “He turneth the sea into dry land.” One message I get from that is God can turn things around for you. Jesus can make your worst day your best day right in front of your enemies. When it seems as if we are going to be destroyed or defeated, Jesus still speaks peace to you and me. He takes the thing that would harm us and makes dry ground out of it for us to walk through with victory. Don’t give up my dear brothers and sisters. God is always with us and Jesus is in us. He will always see that we make it through all our storms because HE has control of them. There is nothing out of His reach. Be encouraged, there is darkness tonight but the sun will be out in the morning. George Pendleton, the founder of the 7THTrumpet Publications in Mountain Home AR, told me once, “Worry is like a rocking chair. It will give you something to do but never get you anywhere.” “Oh what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.” Just remember, at the Red Sea the children of Israel experienced a great turn around that day and many years after that. God is the God that is in our storms. He is with us. He will not leave us to drown in any of them. Note: “What a friend we have in Jesus.” Written by: Joseph M. Scriven, 1855.

THE GOD OF OUR STORMS by TR Gosnell through those storms safely. In verse 44, they all made it to shore safely after they listened to what God had to say. Euroclydon means typhoon in the Latin wording. The men who sailed with Paul were not beginners, they were seasoned expert sailors and should have known better. Yet they listened to the captain of the ship and not Paul. Let us look at a few storms in the lives of people we read about in the bible. In Joshua 4, right after the defeat of the enemy, Israel took Rahab with them for she hid the spies. When they came to the raging Jordan River, God told them what to do. The priest of the ark stood firm and the waters stood upon a heap. Then it says the salt sea stopped also and they crossed on dry ground. There may be a raging fearsome river in front of you, but God has a way prepared for you to cross with no harm coming to you if you will just seek his guidance. There are more examples where God’s people had to face mighty waters that would keep them from what he wanted them to have. Yet God made a way for them to get all he promised them. The children of Israel were at the Red Sea; there was a great storm in the dessert as they were being chased by the Egyptians. Yet they were delivered and walked over into the land God promised them. It was God who made the way for them. Throw down all your weapons - it is God alone and Jesus who will fight for us and deliver us. Peter got in trouble in the stormy waters and he held up his hand and asked Jesus to help him, for no one else could. Jesus walked on the water and lifted him out of the water. Then Jesus told the waters and the winds to stop and they obeyed His voice. How much more will he do for his children who trust in him? When Israel was in the desert, they came to the waters of Marah and they complained not because they had no water for it was bitter. God told Moses to take a branch and put it in the water and it will be sweet and it was so.

Acts 27:7-14:“And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone; And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea. Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them, And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives. Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul. And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west. And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete. But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.” If we look at verse 14, it tells us they were caught in a great storm. Paul did not ask for this storm; he warned the people this might happen. There are a lot of storms in our life that we do not ask for. The devil will use anyone or anything he can to cause us trouble and burden our souls down. The good news is God will always make sure we make it 8

THE MS Mom Life Alison Bach

Hello Everyone! I’d like to introduce myself. I am Ali Bach, and I have MS. My story starts pretty abruptly. I was fine one day, and then I literally woke up and was partially paralyzed on my right side. I couldn’t feel my face or tongue. My balance was completely thrown off and I looked like I was drunk when I tried to walk. It was a pretty terrifying time in my life not knowing what was going on. I remember the day that I looked at my mother and asked, “Am I going to die?” and her response was, “I don’t know.” I was DX within a month of the initial symptoms. May 13, 2009 is a day I will never forget. Sitting in the office waiting to hear the results of my MRI and spinal tap. Thankfully my mom and sister were with me. The doctor came and immediately my sister said, “lets get straight to the point, does she have MS?” the answer was Yes and that’s when the battle began. My belief is that God allowed this in my life to draw me closer to him. There is purpose in everything that God allows, and me having MS is part of his perfect plan. Through this battle God has drawn me closer to him. With MS you lose control of your body; it can be terrifying, especially if you have little ones to tend to daily. How do you change a diaper with one arm??? Answer: very carefully hee hee. When I think I can’t go anymore in a day, my Great and Powerful Lord gives me the strength I need to continue forward. I cling to Him. He is my Hope in every day. I have seen what the Lord has commanded me do with this platform that He has so kindly laid in my hands. MS Activism, yes, BUT also and more importantly, He wants me to spread the good news! He wants me to show people that even though times are hard sometimes there is a purpose and that all things should give glory to God. I will praise Him in this storm!!!

KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE HORIZON

Nancy Shaw Reed

What’s Your Hurry??

like it says in the Bible; He that is in me is greater that he that is in the world. So although I love the acceptances of people, that will always come secondary to the acceptance of my Father in Heaven.

Every person faces challenges of one sort or another at some point in this life. Those challenges offer us opportuni6es to discover more of who we are in Christ or what Christ wants to be for us through that challenge. Every situa6on is an opportunity for growth. Nothing is wasted. The tempta6on when faced with a challenge is to allow fear, doubt or some other nega6ve to distract our focus away from Christ and who He is for us or wants to be for us in the situa6on. Perhaps He wants to increase our peace or help us to have a deeper trust in Him or perhaps even give us greater levels of joy. It is through life’s challenges that I believe that some6mes we learn the most. I learned recently that when sailing in rough seas, in order to avoid seasickness, you are to fix your eyes on the horizon. Looking to the leA or right, watching the wind and waves can cause queasiness and ul6mately seasickness. I believe that challenges in life are like the wind and waves. It is so easy to become distracted by them and soon find ourselves off course and steeped in nega6ve mindsets like fear, panic or dismay. In these challenging 6mes, let us keep our eyes on the horizon. The horizon is Jesus Christ. He is our Hope and our Peace and as we fix our eyes on Him, He will navigate us through every situa6on in life.

Nancy is an author, poet, speaker and bible study teacher. Her passion is to encourage those that have struggled with fear or insecurity by poin6ng to the finished work of Christ. She desires to see the body of Christ walk in the fullness of His love and grace. She has wriLen 2 books, Whispers from Heaven and Forever Yours in Christ. (Each book is available on Amazon.com)

So many of the people that I know and I’m sure there are many more out there, are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. The worst part is, if you ask them why? They oAen become defensive and feel a need to explain in considerable detail why they are geJng up extra early and going to bed super late and never have 6me to even just relax for a few moments or read a book. These supercharged super moms and dads are wearing themselves thin. They think that to be good parents that their children must be involved in at least three things at once and God help them if they have more than one child. Do they not realize that their memories are going to be a blur of geJng their kids from here to there and then to the next place? Perhaps a liLle 6me for homework and then bed6me? What about family 6me? More importantly what about the 6me we spend with God? God and family haven’t taken a back seat, they just don’t fit into the minivan at all! Don’t get me wrong, I do think it is important to involve your children in things, but I think it is more important to teach them that God and family come before anything else. I’m flinching as I’m wri6ng this because I know how it will get to those moms and dads that just want to be perfect parents and give their children only the best. We don’t have to be perfect, but we do have to spend personal Chris6an 6me with our kids and teach them that a commitment to aLend our Fathers house is more important than a worldly commitment to aLend a Hockey game or soccer, baseball, dance, golf, whatever. God must always come first in our lives! I know it’s not the popular opinion, but
