GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE –July 2012 Charity – Unity – Fraternity – Patriotism Live your Faith! Brothers, Thanks to all who participated in this year’s Charity Drive. Our Charity coffers have been replenished and our Reading Food Pantry donation check is ready to go. We will serve many people with these funds. Fundraising for our building is progressing thanks to John and Betty Cronin for a generous donation to our building needs. I want to solicit all Knights to support our upcoming building fundraiser on Sunday, Sept 9, in conjunction with the Reading Fall Street Faire. We are selling vendor booths for $35 each for a 10x10 foot spot in our parking lot. We need people to help work at our own food booth that day in the parking lot. You will see a signup email going out soon. Help spread the word that the Knights will be serving lunch that day. Another way you can help support our building improvement effort is to offer a handy skill you may possess to enhance the Hall. Contact me directly if you think you can help make an improvement. Thanks for your support to me as Grand Knight this past year. I have volunteered to run again for this position next year to help guide our Council and continue its growth in charity, fraternity, unity, and patriotism. Many of the same Officers will also continue to serve. I want to thank all the officers that served and especially our out-going Warden, Bill Malin, and our Chancellor, Guy DeMartinis for serving this past year. Thanks to all of you for being a Knight. In Christ,
Mike Canavan, Grand Knight
Charity Fund Drive: The results are in, the Charity Drive was held on June 8-9, with collection efforts at Market Basket, Stop and Shop and a few other sites we were able to collect a total of $2288. This allows us to donate $1144 to the Reading Food Pantry and deposit $1144 in our Council Charity Fund. Great work! This is up about 15% over last year. Thanks to everyone who participated in the collection efforts. If you did not have a chance to participate but would like to make a donation to this cause in solidarity with those who did (keep in mind we collected over $50 per hour on average) we will continue to accept donations through July 7. Please make check payable to Reading KofC (11 Sanborn Street, Reading, MA 01867).
