Being able to publish in high impact journals is becoming a key ingredient for successful appraisals, promotions and career mobility. This seminar focus on important aspects of writing: formulating a good title, a “wow” abstract, comprehensive introduction, as well as discussion of results and conclusion sections. Numerous examples are provided to build convincing sentences and arguments using suggested phrases. The speaker will also offer some insight on the editorial perspectives on why some papers are accepted, while others are not. Finally, strategies to address the reviewers’ comments are shared —based on the speaker’s experience as editor and reviewer of several leading journals. Speakers Brief Bio-data Prof. Dr. Zainal Salam obtained his B.Sc (Electr. Eng., 1985), M.E.E (Electr. Eng, 1989) and Ph.D (Power Electronics, 1997), from the California State University, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and University of Birmingham, respectively. He has been a lecturer for 30 years and is now the Professor in Power Electronics and Renewable Energy at the Centre of Electrical Energy Systems, Faculty of Electrical Engineering UTM. Prof. Zainal was the Dean of Research for Energy Research Alliance—overseeing and managing energy related research work in the University. He has authored and co-authored over 200 papers (with more than 2,800 citation, h-index 23) in various leading journals and conference proceedings. Since 2011, he has been the Editor of IEEE TRANSACTION ON SUSTAINABLE ENERGY and a member of Editorial Board for the Hindawi’s Scientific World Journal. In addition, he has been a regular reviewer for various IEEE Transactions, Elsevier, Springer and Wiley titles. Prof Zainal is involved in over 30 research projects and consulting works on power converters and renewable energy systems.
