Hey you, WHAT’S UP? Marina Salas—Paula Llul—Vicenç Xavier Vicenç—Maria Zapata Looking at this artwork make us think about many things, especially about a lot of thoughts and over thinking. One of the questions which we would like to know about is the explanation about this head. The boy represented shows a normal body while his head is like a black hole. After reading some articles we can clearly understand that this black hole is a synonym of stress. The usual approach is to think that the parents are the stressed ones as they must pay the bills, go to work, clean the house and so on. But it has been shown that most of the kids suffer stress, some of them by the simple fact of being bored Another action which usually affects

them is the fact of being separated from their parents during the whole day. Moreover, lots of kids have extracurricular activities after finishing school, which means that they do not have much time to have fun with their friends or just to relax and rest. We could be hours talking about the reasons why some kids are stressed. Another reason is the fact they listen to the news or to old people talking about disasters and bad news in general. Another issue which we would like to know is the fact that the body is in a 3D dimension while the head is not. We wanted to know why. After searching deeply on the internet we have figured out a possible reason.

AFRO ISSUE, 2006 Jorge Pineda is an admirer of Jung, the psychoanalyst. He talks about shadows as a part of the individual that belongs to his nature. That is to say, the body looks like a usual body, without any special characteristic; that could be understood as the fact that our bodies do not tend to hide things, they work like the machine they are, passing unnoticed. On the contrary, the head appears like it is hidden away from the others. Being drawn without a 3D dimension makes it look like it is far away. And here appears the metaphor. Although day by day we socialize with others and share thoughts we need to understand that it is really difficult to go in deep in a mind, as it has infinitum of unlimited thoughts, some created by the subconscious. So one of the ways to understand this artwork is to accept the fact the head is far away from us.
