COMPENSATION: $66,355 annual salary NATURE OF WORK: Develop the marketing strategies for presentation to the Commander-in-Chief and National Council of Administration for incorporation into the National membership program. Participate in National conferences and various meetings as the principal representative of the Director of Membership to articulate the VFW position concerning the National membership program. Provide written and oral reports addressing membership concerns to the Director.
JOB DUTIES: Manages daily staff functions of the National Membership Department by coordinating efforts of the Associate Director, Development, Analysis, and Training. Allocates staff and resources to initiate ideas and analyzes those of staff members and National Officers on plans to promote incentives and awards successfully to ensure the continued growth of the VFW. Determines priorities and assigns tasks to appropriate staff members. Monitors and coordinates staff progress and reviews completed results. Recommends the marketing strategy and coordinates the development of membership marketing techniques to ensure the acquisition and retention of members in the organization. Preforms critical analysis, revises statistical modeling and develops criteria particularly co-branding for all marketing projects in conjunction with other VFW Departments. Serve as the principal advisor on the creation of the Membership Departments annual budget and develop financial contracts.
Coordinates the financial and budgetary activity of the Membership Department, assuring the department human and financial resources, including property and equipment, are used in an efficient and proper manner. Serves as the principal adviser to the Director, Membership on staff policy, utilization and national membership issues. Represents the National organization at various level meetings and conferences across the country as required to promote VFW membership and relate to them and the general public the marketing aims and goals of the organization.
SKILLS REQUIRED: Position requires superior human relations skills, analytical and organization management skills to administer the daily activities of the National Membership staff. Position requires knowledge of given subjects to such a degree as to make the incumbent conversant in Veterans Affairs and typically incudes public speaking on particular subjects and special organization issues. Position requires directly related experience in same or closely related field. Position requires advanced understanding of computer operations. Individual must be VFW member eligible. Recommended VFW leadership experience within a Post. Responsibilities of the position require a minimum Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years strong marketing experience.
