School Breakfast: Give It A Try!
We know how busy the mornings can be getting everyone ready for school and work. Take breakfast out of the equation and let us feed your child a nutritious and delicious breakfast at school. Breakfast is offered daily at Montevideo, New London-Spicer and Willmar for all students and includes whole grains, fruit, 100% fruit juice and skim or low-fat milk. You can find the breakfast menu on your districts website or it may be sent home monthly with your child. If your child hasn’t participated in school breakfast in the past, starting in the new year is a great time!

Foods and Drinks That Are Surprisingly High in Sugar Consuming too much sugar is bad for your health. It has been linked to an increased risk of many diseases including obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer. Many foods contain hidden sugars, including some foods that you wouldn’t even consider to be sweet.
Yogurt: Yogurt can be a highly nutritious food. However, not all yogurt is created equal. Yogurts brands advertise many different flavors and toppings, but that means added sugar. Try buying plain unsweetened yogurt and add your own toppings such as fresh fruit. Condiments: Condiments such as BBQ Sauce and Ketchup are usually loaded with sugar. The key here is to watch portion sizes when using these. Granola: The main ingredient in granola is oats. Plain rolled oats are a well– balanced cereal containing carbs, protein fat and fiber. However, the oats in granola have been combined with nuts and honey or other added sweeteners, which increases the amount of sugar and calories. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/18-surprising-foods-high-in-sugar#section9
