Wonderful Minshew Families, Happy New Year! It is our hope that your family had a safe and enjoyable winter break. We are very excited to get the second semester started and consider the possibilities of how much students can grow and learn in 2018! Seeing their smiling faces on Tuesday morning was chicken soup for the soul. Students are the reason we are here. They are our passion and our mission. They are our “why.” Student learning is a top priority and the best way for our students to make progress is to participate in the instructional activities that have been designed by their teachers in the classroom. We are working hard as a campus to raise awareness of the number of tardies, absences, and early checkouts that we have. In the Constant Contact weekly newsletter, you will find the numbers for the previous week. While we understand that illnesses and unexpected circumstances warrant absences, our goal is for those numbers to decrease and to minimize unnecessary absences as much as possible so that our students are set up for success. As a reminder, in the event that your child is absent, don’t forget to send an email to
[email protected] within 3 ** days. We invite you to join us for our Talent Show on the 18th at 6 pm. Our talented Minshew Colts have been working long and hard on their unique acts. We are very proud of their courage and self -pride in sharing their talents with the school community. You and your family won’t want to miss this opportunity to see our Colts shine!
A Public Service Announcement… mckinney’s project GrAduAtion: We need your help! Why are we asking for your help when you don’t have high school students? Because in 2017 Project Graduation didn’t take place due to a lack of community support. And we want to make sure that never happens again! We need to keep Project Graduation going strong so it’s there when your students are seniors. Why? Because Project Graduation keeps graduating seniors (and the community) safe by providing a lock-in style event with fun activities, entertainment, food and prizes (including a FREE CAR!). It is supported and run ENTIRELY by volunteers, parent groups, booster clubs, and local businesses. You have the potential to save lives – please consider supporting this worthwhile event. What can you do? It’s simple…we need sponsors, prize donations and volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact Nancy Nori at (716) 517-5090 or
[email protected]. We also invite you to visit our website at http://www.mckinneysproject-graduation.com/ and click on the buttons to donate or volunteer.
“Minshew’s got GRIT!” Talent show is almost here! We invite you to come support our brave colts who will be taking the stage to share their talents! A brief General PTA meeting will precede the show. The fun starts @ 6pm, Thursday, Jan. 18th!
Thank you for sharing your students with us. Your Minshew Leadership, Inetra Nelson and Mandy Bourland
The first Green Team meeting of 2018 is coming up on Tuesday, January 23rd at 7:15am!
