PREPARING YOUTH TO FACE A DYNAMIC WORLD OF ISLAM Magdy B. Behman Eastern Mennonite University, Virginia, USA Abstract: Over the last few decades, the world has turned into a melting pot; many countries have become hubs for immigrants, foreign workers, volunteer researchers, refugees, visitors and tourists. The concept of a multicultural society has inevitably led to the coexistence of people from different worlds and with mindsets, traditions and habits that may be significantly diverse from those to which we usually refer. The multicultural reality has been a challenge to accept by many and also, less valued. Most countries have already started to revisit this issue in order to modify their immigration laws and procedures. So, what we really need is to find those roads that can promote our growth in acceptance of others, and be open-minded to welcome the concept of diversity and to create a real intercultural dimension for our daily living. Since in a cross-cultural context the relational dimension requires particular attention, it is essential to consider the social dimension of the students and the role of the mentor, educator and most important the role models that revolve around him/her which we present. The Arab world has been struggling with the lack of relevant role models; just old religious historical figures with no contemporary achievement to use and contributions utilize and follow. In the last 700 years, four Islamic leaders impacted the Islamic movements throughout the Arab world. The first started in Syria with Ibn Taymiyya at the turn of the 13th century. Followed by Muhammed Ibn Abul Wahab in Saudi Arabia in the 18th century. Then in Egypt in the 19th century with Hassan Al Banna and Sayed Qutb. SHARE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY IN THE GLOBAL ENERGY MIX Wahyu Mulyo Utomo1, M. Ikhsan Setiawan2, Agus Sukoco2, Cholil Hasyim3 1 UTHM, Malaysia 2 Narotama University, Surabaya, Indonesia 3 DARUL 'ULUM University, Jombang, Indonesia email: [email protected] ABSTRACT : Renewable energy measured is hydropower (hydroelectric), geothermal (geothermal), and biomass. Hydropower (hydro) is the potential energy of the flowing water. This energy is calculated as the power input to produce electricity and is made up of dams, streams, mini-hydro and micro hydro. The amount of energy required hydro equivalent of fossil energy needed to generate electricity. Geothermal (geothermal) is a type of energy produced from magma in the earth in volcanic areas. Heat and high pressure steam emitted can be used to suppress the steam turbines in geothermal electricity or used directly for drying agricultural products. Biomass is a type of fuel based renewable organic materials. The types of biomass include wood fuel (wood and wood waste), agricultural waste (rice husk, straw, palm leaves, coconut, etc.), municipal solid waste and industrial waste. the proportion of the supply of biomass renewable energy to total primary energy supply is higher than hydropower and geothermal. During the 2009-2013 period the proportion of the biomass supply decreases. It is also common in the proportion of geothermal supply. The potential of renewable energy such as hydropower, geothermal, and biomass is quite adequate, but scattered. In general, renewable energy is still relatively small. This is due, among others, the high investment costs, bureaucracy, incentives or subsidies, and the selling price of the final product of renewable energy are higher than fossil energy, the lack of knowledge in adapting clean energy facilities, as well as the potential for new energy resources and renewable in general small and spread (BPPT, 2014). Government policies to support an increase in the proportion of renewable energy to be optimized. Otherwise, the target of 7.2 would be more difficult to achieve. Gradual abolition of fuel subsidies and policies feed-in tariffs (FIT) in the power sector is expected to have an impact on the development of new and renewable energy utilization in Indonesia Keywords: Renewable energy, clean energy, fuel subsidies

ADDITION OF SWEET CORN (ZEA MAYS SACCHARATA STURT) AND FERMENTATION QUALITY OF CHEMICAL COMBUCHA Bambang Sigit Sucahyo, Restu Tjiptaningdyah, Afina Dorrodatun Dr Soetomo University ABSTRACT: Sweet corn, including food commodities which are consumed society. Sweet corn processed by boiling cooking water will be left with sweet corn that is usually discarded, whereas inside still contains valuable nutrients, such as carbohydrates consisting of glucose, fructose (Ningtyas, 2015). Water boiled sweet corn can be processed into kombucha with the sugar content. Kombucha is a functional beverage fermented sweet tea solution to the symbiosis between bacteria and yeast (Malbasa et al., 2006). Kombucha fermentation is influenced by several factors such as the addition of water and fermentation time. The more water used to boil the sweet corn, the lower the carbohydrate content in the water boiled sweet corn. The longer the fermentation time, the compound would be better kombucha (Aryadnyani, 2012). Purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding water to boil sweet corn and fermentation time best that can produce kombucha with chemical and organoleptic characteristics of the best. The purpose of this study was to determine the addition of water to boil sweet corn and fermentation time is right to produce the best kombucha. This study uses a completely randomized design factorial. The first factor is the addition of water to boil the sweet corn that is 750 ml, 1000 ml, 1250 ml for every 250 g of sweet corn. The second factor is the length of fermentation 0 days, 8 days and 14 days. Chemical test parameters include pH, total acid and total sugars. Organoleptic parameters include color, aroma and flavor. The data was analyzed assay variance, if there are differences in eating followed by Honestly Significant Difference test α = 0.05. Organoleptic test data were analyzed with the Kruskal Wallis test α = 0.05. The best overall treatment is determined by the effectiveness of the test. SUFISM; THE DIVERSITY‟S (KEBHINNEKAAN) LINK IN INDONESIA Syamsun Ni‟am Faculty of Islamic Education and Teacher Training, State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) E-mail: [email protected] Abstract: Indonesia is a country of archipelago made up of thousands of small and large islands, stretches from Sabang to Merauke, and inhabited around 250 million people with diverse ethnic, racial, cultural, language, and religion. The majority religion of Indonesia is Islam. Even the world's largest religion as practiced by the inhabitants is Islam. In its long history, Islam came and developed in Indonesia peacefully, without violence at all. This happened because the Muslim preachers in spreading Islam always considered the local socio-cultural conditions, so that they particularly Wali Songo in Java were known accommodative and acculturative to the local culture. They were very aware of the diversity in Indonesia. The developed Islamic teachings were always discussed with the local socio-cultural conditions, so that Islam was easily accepted by the locals. CHARACTERISTIC OF STATIC VAR COMPENSATOR WITH SIMULATION MATLAB Zainal Abidin *) , Kemal Farouq Mauladi **) Electrical Engineering Dept of Islamic University of Lamongan **) Informatic Engineering Dept of Islamic University of Lamongan Email : [email protected], [email protected] *)

Abstract Static Var Compensator (SVC) is a power quality device, which employs power electronics to control the reactive power flow of the system where it is connected. As a result, it is able to provide fast-acting reactive power compensation on electrical systems. In other words, static var compensators have their output adjusted to exchange inductive or capacitive current in order to control a power system variable such as the bus voltage. Moreover, the term static is used to distinguish the SVC from its rotating counterparts like the synchronous generators or motors. With Matlab / Simulink studies simulation can show that if we increase the regulator gain or decrease the system strength, Tm and Td are no longer negligible, and you instead observe an oscillatory response and eventually instability . When the system voltage is low, the SVC generates reactive power (SVC capacitive) and when the system voltage is high it absorbs reactive power (SVC inductive). Keywords : SVC, power quality, Matlab

To support this analysis, then in this empirically used secondary data in a timeframe of ten years by selecting a sample of 20 companies classified as the most active companies traded shares in brackets the last six months or August 2015 to January 2016. The analytical method used is to statistical approach through a linear regression model. The results of this study found that investment opportunity set that is proxies as growth in assets, capital expenditure, and the ratio of investment to earnings, the effect turns negative and significantly the effect on stock returns. This study uses a model be some analysis, and the results are consistent, so it can be stated that the policy of adding asset management and capital expenditure does not affect the decision inventor in stock transactions in the capital market. Variable levels of leverage and market return variable and significant positive effect on stock returns, so that changes in these variables will trigger the growth of stock prices or increase stock returns. Tests using several models of analysis, the result was consistent, especially as investors are very concerned about these two variables. Variable levels of leverage shows that with increased leverage impact on the attainment of the dividend per share has been increasing as the profitability of the company is only enjoyed by shareholders in a limited number. While the market return variable gives a signal about the company's overall condition is listed on the Stock Exchange, so that the growth stock index or market return significant effect on stock returns. keyword:Agency Theory, Signalling Theory, Financial Performance and Capital Asset Pricing Model.

NATIONALISM THROUGH ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING IN INDONESIAN PRIMARY SCHOOL Zulfi Zumala Dwi Andriani, M. Alaika Nasrulloh 1) Institut Agama Islam Darussalam, Banyuwangi E-mail: [email protected] 2) Institut Agama Islam Darussalam, Banyuwangi E-mail: [email protected] Abstract. English subject in Indonesia is taught from the primary school in order to get early proficiency skill of English. Actually the formal teaching of English started in secondary school. English‟s position in primary school is a local content in which schools have the option to teach it or not. In fact most of primary school establishes English teaching in primary school. The teaching of English is started from first grade of primary school; it signifies that children have a sensitive period in which they can learn foreign language easily in their earlier age (Scott and Ytreberg, 1991). This paper signifies in discussing nationalism through English teaching in Indonesian primary school as the answer of skepticism among people which said that teaching English for children may hamper their Indonesian nationalism or national identity. In achieving some indicators of teaching English in primary schools, especially in related to increasing nationalism, there are at least three requirements that should be had by some schools, they are qualified teacher, syllabus and materials which represent nationalism, teaching and learning facilities. It concludes that nationalism cannot be separated from language, as a tool of communication; language represents the identity of nation. In the other hand, mastering international language is also very important in this globalization era. Studying English for increasing nationalism spirit should be fostered among young generation in Indonesia, because it is related to the position of Indonesia in international community.
