Dublin City Schools awarded AdvancED accreditation renewal Dublin City Schools is proud to announce that it has been awarded accreditation by the AdvancED global network. Among the three Powerful Practices cited by AdvancED for the renewal was Dublin City Schools’ deficit reduction efforts which “decreased (the district’s) deficit of more than $6 million by $2.1 million in one year.” This accreditation guarantees that Dublin City Schools will be able to continue to work toward its ultimate goal of “High Achievement and Success for All Students” through 2023.

Moore Street earns NAEA ‘Pilot Program’ distinction Moore Street School was busy for all the right reasons in March. The academic and behavioral alternative school was presented the “Exemplary Practices in Alternative Education Pilot Program Award” by the National Alternative Education Association. In addition to the school wide honor, principal Brian Howell was a featured presenter at the NAEA’s 24th Annual Conference on Alternative Education held in Dallas, TX March 5-7. Strategic Planning Listening Sessions to conclude April 17 Dublin City Schools will conclude its four-part Strategic Planning Listening Sessions April 17 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Dublin High School Atrium. Each session has focused on one of the four Strategic Goal Areas, beginning with High Achievement and Success for All Students, and ending with Highly Qualif ied Personnel. Hillcrest Elementary (at top) and Susie Dasher Elementary (above) both took part in Read Across America Character parades to kick off the month. Even the DHS AFJROTC got involved in the action, reading to SDE classrooms full of red fish, blue fish, and cats in hats.

Ms. Soles featured on 13WMAZ’s “My Teacher is Tops” Susie Dasher Elementary f irst grade teacher, Ms. Rena Soles, was nominated by student, Ayden Rogers, for 13WMAZ’s recurring feature, “My Teacher is Tops.” The segment aired March 20 on the Macon station. Nine DMS students qualify for national math tournament Nine Dublin Middle School students qualified for the MathFest national competition in Washington, D.C. later this year, after outperforming students from across the southeast during the Regional MathFest held at the World Congress Center in Atlanta.

Shamrock Chefs fare well at GaDOE ‘Jr. Chef’ event Our Dublin High School Shamrocking Chefs (Robin Serrant, Khalil Smith and Cacey Perry) represented themselves well at the Georgia Department of Education Junior Chef Competition at the William S. Hutchings Career Center in Macon on March 14. While they didn’t take the top prize, they definitely caught the attention of everyone in attendance with their Southwestern Chicken with Georgia Peach Salsa.
