Procedure for the Management of IPA Houses

IPA Houses & Other Accommodation Welcome to the World of IPA Houses! The objective of establishing IPA Houses is to provide cost-effective quality and friendly accommodation for all IPA members, their families and other visitors within a framework of a well-managed environment. Various properties in member countries serve as official IPA Houses that offer members accommodation at a reasonable price. Additionally, members have access to Other Accommodation at discounted rates for IPA members IPA Houses and Apartments stretch across the globe, from Belgium to Portugal, Australia to South Africa, Brazil to Hungary, Greece to Sweden, Denmark to Ireland, Poland to Germany, France to Spain.

Definitions – IPA Houses and Other IPA Accommodation IPA Houses relate to IPA properties that are officially owned, leased or rented by IPA sections and / or their subdivisions and which have duly been designated as an IPA House in accordance with the Procedure for IPA Houses and Other Accommodation. • Each IPA House has its own rates for accommodation. IPA Sections uphold the principle that accommodation fees should be beneficial so as to motivate IPA members to utilise the Houses as often as possible. In addition, and in acknowledging the cost of operating IPA Houses and that not all Sections have the ability to operate official IPA Houses, many IPA sections offer Other IPA Accommodation. Other IPA accommodation relates to properties owned and managed by private persons / entities and / or IPA members. These are not officially recognised as IPA Houses. • At these Facilities accommodation for IPA members and their immediate dependents are offered at discounted rates. • Note is to be taken that the IPA is not responsible for reservations, maintenance or management of these facilities.

Objective of the Book The “IPA Hosting Book” aims to provide information and contact details regarding official IPA Houses in operation within the various IPA Sections, as well as Other IPA Accommodation available in the respective Countries.

Notes on Making Reservations at Official IPA Houses IPA members wishing to make reservations at an Official IPA House or Apartment locally in their own Section, should do so by contacting the House Managers of the applicable IPA facility directly. IPA members who intend to make a booking at an IPA Facility in another Section should coordinate such travel and visits with the relevant Section and are requested to take note of the following:  Bookings are to be made with the IPA Facility directly  The International Travel Forms MUST be completed in terms of the International Procedures applicable  The Travel Form and details of all IPA Sections can be found on the international website, or on request from the Secretary Generals of IPA Sections worldwide

Responsibility of Guests at IPA Houses The International Executive Board (IEB), on behalf of all IPA Sections and IPA Houses, request all IPA members, their families and friends utilising IPA Houses and Other IPA Accommodation to uphold the motto and objectives of the IPA at all times.

General Information  Location: The Gold Coast IPA House is a self-catering Unit located within the Grande Florida Resort, Redondo Drive, Miami, Queensland – 1.5 hours drive from Brisbane. The Resort has some 300 units and is located on the beachfront at Miami. The location is basically at the centre of the Gold Coast, only some six kilometres south of Surfers Paradise.  Accommodation: The IPA Unit itself has two bedrooms, the main bedroom having a private ensuite. The lounge/dining area is quite open and cool and leads out onto a private balcony overlooking the pools. Air conditioning is provided with ceiling fans are throughout. TV and DVD players are located within, both in the lounge and main bedroom. The lounge also has a sofa bed which allows the unit to accommodate six people at any time. For larger families extra bedding can be obtained from the Resort Office. There is also a safe in the unit for members to secure valuables. Back to Section Index

General Information  Location: The Unit is approximately 10 miles North of Melbourne, halfway between Melbourne Airport and the centre of Melbourne. The tram terminus and Moonee Valley Race Course is in close proximity. There are a number of take away food shops, restaurants, plus a supermarket, Post Office, Commonwealth Bank and telephones nearby.  Accommodation: This is a self-contained motel type unit, consisting of one bedroom with a Queen Size & Futon Sofa Bed – The accommodation is only suitable for two persons prepared to share a bed. Under special circumstances a small child may be accommodated with a fold up bed. Amenities include two lounge chairs, a flat screen HD television, clock radio, and a reverse cycle (heating & cooling) air-conditioning unit. General Information  Location: The IPA House is situated near the city of Campo Grande (Great Field), the capital and largest city of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul in the Centre-West region of the country. The city is nicknamed Cidade Morena (‘Swarthy City’ in Portuguese) because of the reddish-brown colour of the region's soil. The area where the city is located was in the past a waypoint for travellers who wanted to go from São Paulo or Minas Gerais to northern Mato Grosso by land. General Information  Location: Ringkøbing is a market town in West Jutland with 9,890 inhabitants (2016) located in Ringkøbing Sogn. The town lies at Vonå and the northeast corner of the fjord and is situated in the Region Midtjylland. General Information  Location: Arresøhus is located in North Zealand next to Denmark's largest lake called Arresø. The oldest part of Arresøhus was built for about 140 years ago as a residence for the staff of the army. The house was in 1957 taken over by town government of Kregme / Vinderød and was until 1991 used as town hall. IPA - Region 6 Denmark bought the house in November 1993 and after minor remodelling, the house was named IPA Arresøhus and officially inaugurated on 4 March, 1994.

 Accommodation: IPA Arresøhus is 258 square meters in 3 levels. On the ground floor there are 2 double bedrooms and 3 bedrooms for 4 people and 1 toilet. On the first floor there are 3 singles, 3 doubles and 2. 4-bed rooms, two toilets and one bathroom. In total 14 rooms with 35 beds and also 15 guest beds, so a grand total of 50 beds. On the ground floor there is a large living room with sofas, TV, video and DVD player and a laptop. There is a projector with a large screen, and for educational purposes a whiteboard. Wireless Internet access is available anywhere in the house. In the basement there is a dining room and cutlery for 50 people. There are good kitchen facilities with 2 ceramic stoves with ovens, 2 fridge / freezers and coffee makers and an industrial dishwasher. In the dining room there is a cosy bar with draft beer. General Information  Location: Esbjerg is a seaport town established in 1868 on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in the southwest of Denmark. By road, it is 71 kilometres west of Kolding and 164 kilometres southwest of Aarhus. With a population of 71,618, it is the sixth-largest city in Denmark, and the largest in West Jutland. IPA Center Esbjerg was originally built as a children's sanatorium by the Copenhagen Teachers' Association in 1925, and was designed to house 60 Copenhagen schoolgirls between the age of 10-12, who needed sun and fresh sea air.

 Accommodation: IPA Esbjerg took over the house in 1987 and following extensive renovations, the property was reopened in1988 as an IPA house with the participation of IPA founder Arthur Troop. The house has 10 rooms over 2 floors with a total of 24 beds. Toilet and shower are located on both floors. There is a kitchen with a dishwasher, electric and gas stove, fridge / freezer, coffee machine and microwave. The dining room accommodates 24 people, and in addition, there is a banquet hall with space for around 100 people, as well as a bar with draft beer. In the basement there is a small living room with TV / video, as well as a room with air hockey and football. TVs are also available in the dining room and bar. General Information  Location: The IPA House Ylläs is situated in Äkäslompolo, which is also known as "the seven fells village", in the municipality of Kolari in the Finnish part of Lapland. It is located next to a lake of the same name, north-east of Kolari. Äkäslompolo, along with Ylläsjärvi, is the primary village for the ski resort of Yllästunturi, or known as Ylläs for short. The Ylläs ski area has a total of 330 km of cross-country ski tracks, as well as 61 Alpine ski slopes with 29 ski lifts. In summer, Äkäslompolo is popular among hikers, anglers, canoeists, and other outdoor enthusiasts. There are several hotels and many holiday homes in the area.

 Accommodation: IPA House Ylläs, the Flagship of IPA Section Finland, is the northernmost official IPA House in the world. The house, or should we say IPA mansion, is located in western Lapland about 150 km above The Arctic Circle. The IPA House is a log mansion with 10 mini-apartments available to all IPA members. Each mini-apartment is fully equipped with beds for a maximum of 4 persons. A mini-kitchen, including a fridge and micro-wave oven, as well as a toilet, shower, radio and TV can be found in each apartment. General Information  Location: The town of Walluf lies conveniently at the end of Autobahn A 66 Frankfurt - Wiesbaden, just about 15 min. by car away from Wiesbaden and Mainz and the tourist attracting Rüdesheim on the River Rhine. Local attractions include Rheingau, the Taunus Mountains and the Golden City of Mainz, founded by the Romans two thousand years ago! No telephone but there is a phone box outside An old historic building built in 1412 - Renovated in 1993, it has been fully modernised. The apartment is located on the upper floor of the former Town Hall in Oberwalluf - called Walluf, also the "gateway of the Rheingau", bordered to the north and east of the town Wiesbaden and in the west the town Eltville. In the south of the Rhine which forms the border to Rhineland-Palatinate municipality Budenheim.

General Information  Location: The IPA House is situated on the grounds of a farm northwest of Budingen and 40 kilometres north-east from Frankfurt/Main. Büdingen is a Hessian Mittelstadt on the eastern edge of the Rhine-Main area in a wooded area on Seemenbach at the transition of the Wetterau Vogelsberg. The city is famous for its medieval old town with castle, to be best-preserved city centers in Europe counts. The surroundings are beautiful with woods, lakes and castles. Skiing in winter.

 Accommodation: Translated into English, 'The Old Shepherd house' has a large recreation room with radio and television as well as a well equipped kitchen. On the first floor there is a small living room with radio, television and 2 divan beds, a double bedroom and a bunk bedroom, a bathroom with shower and toilet. The region is ideal for those seeking relaxation, hikers and winter sports enthusiasts.  Accommodation: Clubroom, large reception with bar, kitchen and toilets, 2 four-bed-rooms, 1 three-bed-room, 3 double bed-rooms, 1 single-bed-room, partly with lake-view, bathrooms, shower, central heating and a sheltered grill outside. General Information  Location: The IPA Facility is a 2nd floor apartment situated in the city centre of Athens and has been in operation since 1995. Athens has been the centre of Greek civilization for some 4,000 years. The capital of modern Greece, it’s still dominated by 5th-century-B.C. landmarks, including the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel topped with ancient buildings such as the colonnaded Parthenon temple. But it is also a contemporary city, and it is not uncommon for the nightlife hubs of Kolonaki, Psiri and Gazi to stay busy until dawn. From the apartment, you are on the doorstep of various world-renowned sights that provide insight into the history of Greece and the city of Athens, and include sights such as the Acropolis Rock and Museum, the Archaeological Museum, Syndagma Square, Parliament, the National Garden, Plaka (the Old City) and many more. Apart from strolling around, public transport is available – metro, buses, trams, etc.

 Accommodation: The self-catering facility has 2 double rooms and one room with 4 beds. In addition, there is a fully equipped kitchen and two shared bathrooms. It is nicknamed as "the co-capital" - a reference to its historical status as the "co-reigning" city of the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire, alongside Constantinople.

 Accommodation: The IPA Lisbon house offers to members IPA a residence with 23 rooms. The house headquarters consists of 4 floors. General Information  Location: The Loulé IPA house is located in the city of Loulé, Faro in the Algarve. The IPA House is located in Largo Professor Cabrita da Silva, 8, in the historic area of the city, in a very quiet and located 15 minutes away from the beaches and 20 minutes’ drive from Faro Airport and 15 minutes’ drive from the Railway Station. Loulé is located in a region of rolling hills stretching between the picturesque villages of the Serra do Caldeirão and the splendid coast of Algarve. Faro is a bustling commercial city in contrast to the relaxed beach atmosphere of coastal resorts. The coastline of Loulé is known as the "Golden Triangle", an area which includes the luxury resorts of Vale do Lobo, Quinta do Lago and Vilamoura, where the golden beaches, elegant hotels, renowned courses, the marina, the casino and the endless leisure and entertainment options make this one of the best holiday destinations in Europe.

General Information  Location: I.P.A. House Greşu is situated in the mountain village Greșu, at a distance of 82 km from the city Focșani and 100 km from Brașov. Greşu town covers an area of 40 square kilometers, with around 120 inhabitants. The surrounding landscape includes Tisitei Keys and Putna Vrancea mountains, which reach a height of 1785 m.

Accommodation: House I.P.A. Greşu is built on a land area of 2,000 square meters in a mountainous area surrounded by pine forests, Putna brook, providing accommodation to 28 people, consisting of:      

General Information  Location: The House is situated in Durban, the capital of the “Sunshine Coast”, approximately 6 kilometres from the Durban city centre which is easily accessible by bus. The North and South Coasts as well as Inland of KwazuluNatal are easily accessible from the House. History has it that during 1906 the then King Dinizulu was organizing his impi forces to overthrow the Government of Natal. After two policemen were murdered during February 1906, the then Durban Municipal Police Force bought a number of existing buildings and which were to be used as Police Stations – one of which would become the Rossburgh Police Station. After standing empty for several years, the IPA had during 1995 obtained approval to operate the premises as an IPA Guest House and which was officially opened on 9 December 1995.

 Accommodation: The House currently consists of a lounge with television, a fully fitted kitchen, 2 x double bedrooms and one Large bedroom with 5 x single beds, 2 x bathrooms and a shower. The communal kitchen with cutlery, basin and fridges are available to guests. The House has a communal BBQ/Braai area (Braai).

General Information  Location: Situated in Pretoria, the Capital and Jacaranda City of South Africa, the Johann Rissik Guest House is approximately 3 kilometres from the City Centre. It is walking distances away from the Union Buildings, Loftus Versveld and various Embassies. The House is a 30 minute drive away from the Oliver Tambo International Airport and Johannesburg. The legacy of the past directly links the Johann Rissik IPA House situated in Pretoria to the history of two neighbouring cities in the Gauteng Province of South Africa, namely Pretoria itself and Johannesburg – The Johann Rissik House was in 1924 built for Mr Johannes Rissik, the person after which Johannesburg was named. The facility has been in operation as an IPA House since 1988.

 Accommodation: The house has 9 x rooms, lounge with TV, a fully equipped kitchen for use by guests, a bar facility that is open 7 x days a week. The House has a communal BBQ/Braai area with a lapa. Personnel live on site and are always around to assist guests.

The House is in close proximity to South Africa’s wine route.

We are not without the mountain village of the Netherlands. We have a total of six rooms. Four in the B & B section and two in the hotel area. The West Nest Lodge, is private owned and managed by IPA members in Namibia. The West Nest Lodge is situated between Witvlei and Gobabis in the East of Namibia – 170km from Windhoek (A drive of approximately 12 hours through the Southern part of Botswana from Pretoria, South Africa). The West Nest Lodge offers guests a selection of four types of accommodation: Six luxury chalets, four thatched rooms, twelve tented chalets and three camp sites. The facility additionally consists of a main lapa, restaurant, bar, conference facility, gym and kitchen, boma and a chapel. Additionally the Lodge poses over a swimming pool, putt-putt course, golf driving range, children’s playground, tree house, trampoline, jumping castle, rock climbing board and a zip line (foefie slide). Game drives are also on offer.
