Plan Ahead!  Start researching various college and trade school websites to fully understand the requirements needed to be accepted!  Make good grades and get involved in activities in and out of school!  Write all of your volunteer hours, jobs, awards and sporting activities in a binder. This will help when you begin to fill out college/scholarship and job applications!

PERFORMANCE ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS  Like “gold stars” for your diploma. A few possibilities:  Advanced Credit  Earning a “B” average in at least 4 Dual Credit (DC), a score of a 3 on

an AP exam and earning a B or better on an Articulated (ATC) courses.

 Bilingualism- English Language Learner  Participated in and met the exit criteria for a bilingual or English as a

second language (ESL) program and

 Scored at the Advanced High level on the TELPAS

PERFORMANCE ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS  Testing  PSAT – Commended Scholar or higher  SAT Score of 1250 or higher ( math & critical reading combined)  ACT Composite of 28 or higher ( not including writing)

 Certification  Nationally or internationally recognized business or industry

PRE-ADVANCE PLACEMENT (PAP) COURSES  Look for the “PRE-AP ” on your course request sheet.  Courses are grade weighted 1.1 (ex. 85 x 1.1= 93.5)  Taught at college preparatory level.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) COURSES  Look for the “AP” on your course request sheet.  Courses are grade weighted 1.15 (ex. 85 x 1.15= 97.75)  Taught at advanced, college preparatory level.  Score of 3 or higher on end-of-year AP exam can lead to a

Performance Acknowledgement.

DUAL CREDIT COURSES • Dual credit courses are available at the 10th grade level . Courses are grade weighted by 1.15 (exp. 85 x 1.15= 97.75) • Take college-level courses while attending high school to earn both high school & college credit. • Maintaining a “B” average can lead to possible Performance Acknowledgements.

To participate in a Dual Credit Course, A Student MUST: 1. Take the TSI college placement exam, 2. Complete a Dual Credit Admissions Packet. 3. Meet with their Academic Counselor for review of a CLEAR understanding of expectations.

Endorsements: What Are They? • A group of courses (usually four) that are focused in a specific area of interest. • Courses are designed to prepare you for career and college opportunities within your program(s) of interest.

• Each incoming 9th grader must indicate IN WRITING an endorsement choice with the goal of completing four or more credits within that area of study.
