Leadership Course Description 8 th and 9 th Grade Stude nt Le ade rship – 1 se me ste r   ●

● ● ●

This course will deal with the theoretical and practical applications of human relations. The class time will be split between classroom instruction and project based learning where you will acquire and use basic knowledge of leadership skills to achieve your goal. Leadership students will develop peer helping skills, learn how to run business meetings, practice efficient public speaking, be involved in planning, promoting, and running school events, and work on school and community service projects. Some examples of things we do are team building, service projects around CJHS, service projects with our community, service projects to help people around the world, learn practical skills (group processes, public speaking, business communication, career development), and have weekly meetings. Participation in a previous Leadership class is not necessary to be a part of the Leadership class. Participation in a previous Leadership class does not guarantee you a spot in the 2017-2018 class. Additional time is frequently required outside of class time (before school, during lunch, after school, and on weekends). 15 hours of community se rvice are required per semester. Time spent before or after school working on Student Leadership activities counts towards the required hours. There may be a summer meeting before the start of the school year to plan and organize ourselves for the year. Date and time tentatively set for the same day as schedule pick up.
