IITA is a member of CGIAR, a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future Duty Station: This is a Nationally Recruited Position and the incumbent will be based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Job requirements: • A degree in Civil Engineering or Higher Diploma. • Minimum 2 years experience on a construction project or in building maintenance. Ito • Prefers Graduate with upper second is an added advantage • Must be familiar with maintenance & upkeep of office facilities • Must be able to work long hours, communicate well, have good reporting skillS and be able to multitask •Excellent communications skills including verbal and written English Must be proficient in MS Office: excel and word, AUTOCAD and/or ARCHICAD Knowledge of MS Project an added advantage Responsibilities: PRIMARY ROLES To undertake the following works: 1. To provide support in the preparation of design drawings and bills of quantities for various small building projects and renovations. 2- To provide support in the supervision of construction projects and following up on various identified tasks with regards to these protects as assigned.

3- To provide support in conducting weekly checks on the buildings under maintenance program with regards to physical installations to report on any issues that need to be addreseedintmediately 4- To provide support in the preparation of weekly and monthly preparation of reports on building maintenance status and other related works 5- Any other assignments of that may require the help of a Civil Engineer SECONDARY ROLES Other duties include providing support to external contractors on the maintenance of the buildings with regards to a) General maintenance of all fixed and loose assets, electrical and mechanical systems b) Update the inventory of all items needed in the general repairs of physical assets for the buildings c) Establish and update a database of suppliers and contractors able to repair and maintain the building's physical state as required WORK METHODS d) Ensure SOPs and SLAs for contractors are followed according to the contracts in place e) Carry out daily and weekly checks on all equipment at maintenance sites as instructed f)Supervise and follow up on work requests and ensure minimum lead time between request and completion of job g) Liaise with procurement and finance department to follow up on LPOs and Payments h) Provide monthly reports on vehicle status, generators and utilities General Information: The initial contract for the position is two years with possibility of renewal.
