The objective of IBSD is to develop and utilize the rich bioresources of the Northeastern Region of the country through the application of modern tools of biology and biotechnology. This institute committed to become a premiere research institute in the region with state-of-art modern research facility and infrastructure. The institute has its Regional Centre in Sikkim. The institute invites application for the following contractual posts: Post No.1: OneScientist- D Animal Science Consolidated Pay: Rs. 60,000/- p.m. Essential Qualification: 1st class M.Sc. with Ph.D in Zoology/Life Science/MVSc or any related field with five years research and development experience after PhD in relevant discipline with original work as evidenced by patents or publications. Post No. 2: OneScientist- C/B Algae Essential Qualification: 1st class M.Sc. in Botany / Biotechnology or any related field with five/three years R&D experience or Ph.D. with four/two years post doctoral experience in Algae. Post No.3: OneScientist C/B Ecology/Environment Essential Qualification: 1st class M.Sc. in Botany / Biotechnology/Ecology/Environmental Science/Life Science with five/three years R&D experience or Ph.D. with four/two years post doctoral experience in Ecology/Environmental science or related field.. Post No.4: OneScientist-C/B Sustainable Development st Essential Qualification: 1 class Master’s degree in Life Sciences/Sustainable Development/Social Anthropology with five/three years R&D experience or Ph.D. with four/two years post doctoral experience in sustainable development. Note : (i). Consolidated Pay of Scientist-B shall be Rs.50,000/-p.m (ii). Consolidated Pay of Scientist-C shall be Rs.55,000/- p.m (iii). For Scientist B and C positions, appointment will be done as per the availability of suitable candidate in these positions. (iv). The number of posts may be increased or decreased and consolidated Pay may also be increased for the exceptionally good candidates. GENERAL CONDITIONS: 1. Applicants should be Indian nationals 2. The maximum age limits will be as follows: Post No. 1: 50 years Post No. 2, 3 & 4: 40/35 years for Scientist C and B respectively. Relaxation of age in respect of special categories/sports persons under Govt. of India notifications/guidelines will be applicable. 3. Persons with physical disabilities will have age relaxation up to 5 years.

The above positions are purely on contractual basis and emoluments are fixed. The positions will not be entitled to any allowances over and above their fixed emoluments. 5. The tenure of the above contractual positions at present will be one (01) year from the date of joining. The tenure may be shortened or extended as per requirement. 6. The candidates appointed against these contractual positions will not have any right to claim for regular appointment at IBSD, Imphal or Regional Centre IBSD, Gangtok, Sikkim or DBT, New Delhi. 7. The date for determining the age limit/experience/qualifications shall be the closing date prescribed for receipt of applications. 8. The period of experience in the requisite discipline/area of work wherever prescribed shall be counted with effect from the date of acquiring the prescribed minimum educational qualification for that group/grade. 9. Applications from the candidates working in Government departments, public sector organizations, autonomous institutions and government funded research agencies will be considered only if forwarded through proper channel and with a clear certificate that there is no vigilance case pending/being contemplated against him/her and that the applicant will be relieved within one month of receipt of the appointment order. 10. Only outstation candidates, called for interview, will be paid to and fro single second class rail fare/ordinary bus fare from the normal place of their residence or from the actual place of undertaking the journey, whichever is nearer to the place of interview. 11. The Institute will have the right to cancel/modify any of the above positions. 12. The Institute reserves the right to engage any person for any position, if found suitable, even if he/she has not applied for the position. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence political or otherwise will be treated as a disqualification for the post. Merely fulfilling of the minimum prescribed qualifications and experience will not vest any right on a Candidate for being called for interviews. Since it may not be possible to call all the candidates for interviews, the applications will be short listed for the purpose and the decision of the Institute will be final.
