Kids 4-5 - Our mission for kids this age is to encourage, enhance and explore their natural creativity through an

art-rich curriculum that includes drawing, painting and collage. At this age, children are still developing their fine motor skills. Through eye-hand coordination exercises, we help improve the way they transfer on paper what they are seeing.

Kids 5-7 - In this age of discovery, when all they do or create is a moment to celebrate, learning drawing and painting techniques is just another celebration. The kids in this age group are like sponges quickly assimilating all new information. We teach drawing by deconstructing familiar subjects into geometric shapes that help children "see." Students learn art concepts that help them to improve and enrich their drawings. Eventually, children learn that everything can be drawn using basic shapes and they can start applying it by themselves. We teach at this young age the proper use of a brush and color mixing using watercolor and tempera paint. The students have the opportunity of exploring other mediums such as collage and oil pastels.

Kids 7-9 - This is a great age for Art Classes. The kids from 7 – 9 are not self-conscious yet about how their art work “should look.” They are very open to ideas and information. Learning how to draw and feeling confident about it will take them safely beyond the age where most of us decided “we do not know how to draw” or about 10 years old. In this class, we have a good balance of drawing from imagination and drawing from observation. Drawing from imagination is very important at this age and teaching them a few art concepts that can be applied to their drawings will open their creativity and imagination. We teach drawing from observation and help students to “see” and notice details that will help them to translate it to paper. We teach about painting in this class including the proper use of brushes, color mixing using watercolors and tempera paint and other mediums such as soft and oil pastels. This class builds confidence and individual creativity in a guided but fun artistic environment.

Kids 9-12 - Learning how to draw is a great asset for children of this age. Drawing allows them a way to express

themselves, a tool to use when they are bored, a way to express their ideas to others and a source of joy, confidence and self-esteem. However, around 10 years old children become very critical of their art work. This is the age when most people stop drawing because they are convinced they cannot do it. Our goal is to foster a healthy confidence in your child’s artist ability.

Teens - Our teen classes offer personalized instruction depending on the level of the student and their interests. Everyone in the class can work on different projects and media.

Policies Punctuality Please be on time for your class. Do not "drop off" your child early or leave them at the studio past their class time. We are not equipped to watch children that are not enrolled in a class.

Missed class /Make up class Policy If a student misses a class, they can attend another regular class provided there is room available. However, there is ABSOLUTELY NO PRORATING NOR REFUND for missed classes. "Missed" classes cannot be used as a "class credit" for the next session. To be able to make up a class the student needs to be enrolled and tuition of the month paid. To schedule a make-up class please send us an email after reviewing our schedules and let us know the classes that work for you to make-up. We will send a confirmation back. in the following 24 hrs.

No parents allowed in the classroom We believe children should be able to enjoy and focus on their art class. For this purpose, we ask parents to wait in the lobby or waiting area to avoid disruptions in the class. Please call us or discuss it with the teacher if you have any concerns about this policy.

Payment Payment is due the first week of the month. Please call us if you have any questions about payments, discounts and special offerings.

Discount policy for weekly classes Additional Family Members will receive $5 off monthly tuition for additional family members.

Cancellation policy for weekly classes A minimum of two weeks advanced notice before the class period starts is required to receive a full refund. Cancellations made after the two-week advanced notice period will be refunded less a $30 cancellation fee. Cancellations made THREE days before the class begins ARE NOT eligible for a refund.

Inclement weather policy. In the event of inclement weather, the decision to open or close Kingdom Inspiration Studio Art Education Program will be made by management as soon as possible regarding inclement weather.

Please notice that Kingdom Inspiration Studio Art Education Program does NOT follow local school districts closings.

We will communicate to our Art Education Program families by: a) A mass e-mail to all students, b) Our Facebook page: If we close the Academy due to inclement weather, students can make up their classes following our make-up procedure. Kingdom Inspiration Studio Art Education Program does not refund or credit for classes cancelled due to weather.

We also want to stress that we want everyone to use their best judgment at all times and make a personal decision for your and your family based on the roads in your area and your feeling about driving to art classes. Even though we may be open for classes, please don’t feel like you need to travel to the studio if you are questioning the trip at all. We understand and you can make-up the class. Ultimately we want everyone to be safe.

Thank you for taking the time to read over our HomeSchool Art Education Program Guide. We hope this information has been helpful to you. We look forward to getting started building an ARTFUL relationship with your child. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Tonya L Butcher Owner / Artist / Instructor Kingdom Inspiration Studio 1008 Sophia Street Fredericksburg VA 22401 (540) 479-6865
