Holiday Homework Ideas I put together some fun ideas for homework/family activities for my students to do in December. I cut the ideas apart and send home about two each week with the children. Some of the activities require something special to complete the task. Here is what you would need if you wanted to send home all of the activities with the special additions! The Dollar Store is a great place to get these extra goodies! Need: – candycane – bag of microwave popcorn – special holiday pencil – envelope – instant cocoa packet – highlighter – special paper Christmas plate and napkin – holiday book – reindeer food I used to make countdown chains for the children and write each activity on a link of the chain. Then, I made a little bag to go with it that included all of the extras. This year, I changed it up and sent home one activity at a time with the special extra (pencil, highlighter, cocoa...). I find they complete more of the activities when they are sent one at a time instead of in the chain. I hope you enjoy these! Have fun! Carolyn Kisloski

Holiday Homework Ideas Eat your candy cane and think of something sweet to do for someone. Next, go and do your sweet surprise!

Put an ice cube in a bowl. Before it melts, see if you can think of and write words that rhyme with hat, snow, cold, and ice.

Mrs. Wishy-Washy and Mrs. McNosh love the holidays! Help sort the laundry by color at home. When the laundry is done, help pair up the socks. You can watch Mrs. Wishy-Washy here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxmFDa9zdNM You can watch Mrs. McNosh here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vurPsBoEV3M

Make a special card for Grandma or Grandpa, or a special Aunt or Uncle. Be sure to add lots of hugs and kisses in your note. Make a pattern or X's and O's around the border of your card.

Enjoy your popcorn as you watch a holiday special with your family!

Draw a picture of Santa and his reindeer. Label each reindeer. Think about what sounds you hear in each name as you stretch it out. Don't forget to use a capital letter to begin each reindeer's name!

Write a letter to Santa with your special pencil! Put it in your special envelope. Tell him that you have been good this year. Thank him for all his work. Ask him one question that you have for him. Can you remember how to spell his name? Sing our S A N T A song to help you! You can watch the S A N T A song here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGAYzlqj-aE

Ask mom or dad if you can take a special ride to look at Christmas lights when it gets dark.
