MANAGER OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS Winnipeg Police Service Posting: #7-2015 The Winnipeg Police Service is offering an exciting and challenging career opportunity for a selfmotivated individual who thrives in a leadership role, as the Manager of Public Affairs. An exceptional communicator, the right candidate must have an excellent understanding of how to effectively identify and resolve communication issues. Under the supervision of the Manager of Strategic Issues, the Manager of Public Affairs is responsible for overseeing the accurate, timely and consistent messaging through all Winnipeg Police Service internal and external communications, via all communications platforms (print, online and spoken). The Service’s Manager of Public Affairs serves as a leader and strategic resource to staff across the organization. As the Manager of Public Affairs, some of your duties will include: Planning and coordinating the development of Departmental internal and external communications strategies, programs and policies Providing communications expertise, counsel, support and training to Service staff Managing and/or coordinating a variety of communication projects/initiatives including those related to specific and emergency situations Managing and organizing the Public Affairs/Communications Unit including the supervision of assigned staff Your experience includes: Grade 12 diploma; G.E.D. Certificate; or equivalent Diploma: Journalism, Business Administration* 60 months’ prior related work experience APR (Accredited in Public Relations) or ABC (Accredited Business Communication) or equivalent experience/education* *IMPORTANT: Applicants educated outside of Canada must have education which is comparable to the minimum qualification in Canada. Applicants submitting foreign credentials require an official academic assessment report issued by a recognized Canadian assessment service AT APPLICATION
Requirements include: 18 years of age Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident Valid full Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s Licence Ability to meet and maintain the standards of a Winnipeg Police Service security check / background investigation and required police clearances No involvement in any criminal activity within the last two years (including illegal drugs) No criminal record for which a Pardon has not been granted
