⇒ Enrollment in Programs: your student will receive a packet of paperwork on the first day of school. For the safety of your child, it is urgent that you complete and return the forms as soon as possible. o The following must be completed every year ! Contact Information ! Health Card (Nurse Stinson) ! Free/Reduced Lunch Forms (online) ! Tooth Fairies (Dentist)

⇒ School starts at 7:45 a.m. ⇒ Attendance o

ABSENCE ! If your child is going to be absent or late, it is your responsibility to call 333-6652 to report their absence ! If you have not called your child in as absent, you will receive a phone call from the main office to help ensure the safety and accountability of our students. It is important that we make contact with you.

LATE CONSEQUENCES ! If your student arrives after 7:50 a.m., they will receive an office detention. They can speak with their assistant principal if they feel that the tardy should be excused. ! Clubs & Athletics: to participate for the day, you must be in school by 7:50 a.m. If you have questions, please speak with the Athletic Director (333-6662)

EARLY DISMISSAL ! Students may be dismissed early with a signed note or phone call to the main office ! Students should turn in dismissal notes to the main office first thing in the morning ! Notes must include dismissal time, returning time and reason for dismissal ! Students MUST sign-out in the main office before leaving

ELHS utilizes PowerSchool to communicate grades to students and guardians, if you prefer a paper copy of your student’s progress, please contact the guidance department in writing. Your PowerSchool login remains the same each year. If you need assistance, please contact Edward Little. We are in the process of making a transition to proficiency based grading. If you have a question on your student’s progess, please immediately contact the teacher directly. 9th Grade students’ progress will be in EMPOWER. There will be parent training sessions on login and use throughout the year. For a staff directory, see the website.

To conduct any business at school, parents and visitors are required to have a photo ID (dismissal, meetings, etc.)

Detention runs from 2:20 – 3:20 p.m. Library is open until 3:30 p.m. for students who would like a quiet space to study

We cannot let students in the building before 7:20 a.m. Please do not drop your student off early. The following are specified areas for students until the first bell at 7:45 a.m. ! Cafe: Free breakfast is served until 7:45 ! Library

a notice will be made over local radio/television stations, posted on district website, and a automatic phone message sent home A delayed start is exactly 2 hours late. This includes bus times, bell times, etc. School will release at the regular time.

Student use is a privilege not a right School reserves the right to monitor all computer/internet activity and assign appropriate consequences if necessary. Students should not expect privacy in their use of school property laptops.

⇒ Cell Phone Use o o

Cell phone use will be limited to time between classes and at lunch only. Use of cell phones in the hallway during class time is not permitted Please do not call or text your child during school hours. Cell phones are increasingly becoming a distraction and detriment to student learning. Please see the website for your student’s lunch time. If you need to contact your child, please call the main office.

⇒ School Based Health Center is a free health program

through St. Mary’s Hospital. Students who have been enrolled have access to a physician’s assistant, counselor and other medical staff in the ELHS building. Enrollment packets will be provided on the first day of school.

⇒ Safe School: In an effort to keep your student and our schools safe, we may need to utilize any of the following o o

Fire/Evacuation or Lockdown If the school goes into lockdown or needs to evacuate, please know that we will ask all students to turn off their cell phones. In the event of an emergency, we need all phone lines to be available. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOL OR YOUR STUDENT’S CELL PHONE. The school/district will contact parents as soon as it is safe to do so. Drug-Searching Canines- The partnership between the Auburn School District and the Auburn Police Department supports the training of the dogs, ensures a drug-free building, and will be used to inform and educate students about how drug-searching canines are used in the community. These searches will not be announced. Students will not come in contact with the canines.

⇒ Parent Information Nights: We are inviting parents to come learn and ask questions about current topics in education. We will meet the second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the high school band room.
