Ingleside Independent School District
Intent and Purpose
Program/Services
The purpose of the Ingleside I.S.D. Gifted and Talented Advanced Academics Program is to provide a differentiated and enriched academic environment for students with advanced learning abilities. Gifted students participate in the district program from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Ingleside I.S.D. identifies students who exhibit general intellectual ability (Grades K-5), by specific academic subjects (Grades 6-12), and meet their special learning needs.
Students are screened for the Gifted and Talented Program beginning in Kindergarten during the month of January and services are provided beginning March 1st. Students currently enrolled in the district (Grades 1 through 11) are screened in the spring of each school year. Transfer students identified as G/T are monitored to determine placement and testing is provided for students specifically recommended by parents/teachers throughout the year.
Differentiation and enrichment of the curriculum is accomplished by modifying content, process, product and environment; by meeting advanced skills' needs, especially in the area of research, and by nurturing the abstract thinking abilities of these students.
