Grab and Graph Directions: Partners work together to choose objects out of a grab bag and then create their own graph. Children reach in and grab a handful (only what they can hold in their hands) and then sort, count, and graph the objects in rows. Students then compare the amounts using the talk cards. I would differentiate this station by providing different graphing boards for students to use (I purchased these from Lakeshore-well I didn’t but donors choose did! ). The goal here is to have the students decide how to graph the items. I would also differentiate by providing cards that advanced students could draw from and then create a key. Example: One card may say Create a key: Each object now has a value of 5. These cards could also be differentiated to continue to 2 and 10. Later on in the year I will let each group member take a handful so that two handfuls are taken. (This game is adapted from Grab and Graph in Debbie Diller’s book Math Work Stations p. 77.)
