Objective This course analyzes globalization and business from viewpoints of international trade and comparative advantage, economic integration and clusters and competitive advantage. Special topics such as trade policy tools (tariffs, quotas, export subsidies), the Mexican central region automotive cluster, the Cultural, Administrative, Geographic and Political (CAGE) distance and the growing Indian IT services industry would be covered. Some challenging topics, given time constraints and desire of students, such as financial globalization and globalization and the environment have been included in the syllabus. Globalization and Business should be understood with a social perspective in an economically integrating world. The course is modeled on lectures and exams and regular homework assignments; however, your comments are much appreciated.

Evaluation    

Assignments and Projects: 15% (assigned to groups of three or four people) Midterm 1: 25% Midterm 2: 25% Final Exam: 35%. The Final Exam would be cumulative. The OFFICIAL DATE is 07/12/2017.
