This position requires that material including glass and metal be organized, staged, and then loaded onto company delivery and common carrier vehicles. The role of the shipping production worker is to locate the product to be shipped by using the shipment documentation given to them by their supervisor. Using the best means for loading, which could be an overhead crane, forklift, 4D lift or a pallet jack, and load the product in the trailer so it will not fall during transport. Certification on all the moving equipment is a requirement. Must have flexibility with work availability. Standard shift is Monday thru Friday, 8 pm – 4 am M-TH with Fridays starting at 5 pm and ending earlier, but may require some Saturdays. Task: Read and understand delivery receipts, production labels, and locate product in the facility Load product on the truck in the reverse order of the route Handle product in a manner that will not cause damage to the product or injury to self or others Recognize product defects and notify supervisor immediately of any issues Ensure truck is on level ground before loading and when loading items keeping weight of product evenly distributed on the vehicle Secure product on truck securely enough to move vehicle out of loading bay, leaving room for poles and straps so that truck driver may properly secure the load for safe delivery to customer Check the equipment to be used to make sure it is in the best working order Determine the best means for getting and loading the product (this could include the overhead crane, forklift, 4D lift, or pallet jack) Regular and predictable attendance, the ability to safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of your job.
