Dear LAUSD Employee, This is a communication from the Online Gradebook Pilot (OGP) Team on the status and progress of the District’s work to prepare for the introduction of the online gradebook. The Online Gradebook Pilot (OGP) team is made up of employees from the Division of Instruction; Instructional Technology Initiative (ITI) and the Information Technology Division. The District-wide implementation of the new online gradebook is one part of a Learning Management System (LMS)., The Board-adopted recommendations, made by the ITI Task Force, will support a student-centered learning environment. The LMS will be key in preparing all students to be digital learners who use technology as a tool to graduate ready for success in college and careers. Using the online gradebook will keep our District competitive by providing families access to grades and assignments, provide a tool for tracking student performance and managing digital instructional content. It will be integrated with MiSiS and information will be shared between the two systems. Over the past 6 months, the Online Gradebook Pilot project team worked collaboratively with employees from 19 schools and offices to build the foundation for a successful pilot program. The system will be used in 36 additional schools across the district as the pilot continues during the 2016-2017 school year. We are confident that this system will fully support and enhance the overall instructional program for all schools. All schools will have the opportunity to learn about the Schoology Gradebook by sending selected staff to a voluntary training session this school year. This training and the use of the Schoology Gradebook are voluntary for 2016-2017. More details about this training will be shared via email in the coming weeks. The MiSiS online gradebook is still available for all teachers again this year. Your continued dedication and hard work has allowed the District to support our schools for many years using a variety of different ways to track student performance.
