Fiji Expedition 2018 Last term, thirteen of us received permission letters for the opportunity to go on a two-week expedition to one of the most exotic and diverse locations in the world - Fiji. We will be setting off on a red-eye fifteen hours + plane journey the first week of the summer holidays 2018 and will spend one week immersed in the depth of the Fijian jungle, helping an organisation called Operation Wallacea, collecting real scientific research; sleeping in hammocks under rainforest canopy; and doing hands-on research that could also include discovery of new species. The second week will be spent almost entirely underwater, with ever-present goggle marks and pruned fingertips! We will be gaining our PADI license in underwater diving or snorkelling in crystal clear water and marvelling at over 1200 species of fish and marine life native to the coral reefs fringing the sandy beaches of the islands. In recent weeks, we have been busy at lunchtimes brainstorming fundraising events that will make this adventure possible and skyping our Operation Wallacea correspondent. If you have any events or ideas you would like to see, please send your ideas to
[email protected], or come and talk to any of us! For more information on events to come that you might be interested in, please follow our links below and watch this space!
