Allen Elementary PTO Meeting - Minutes February 7, 2017@ 5:30 pm Call Meeting to Order at 5:32 pm a. Members Present: Tanya Johnson, Jimena Fernandez, Jenny Anglin, Nicole Keifer, Tracie Downey and Tonya Suarez 2. Financial Report: Balance currently at $5,483.94. This value includes the PTO portion of the chromebooks along with the Pcard rebate. Budget was approved with a motion from Jenny Anglin and a 2nd from Nicole Keifer. 3. New Business: a. Valentine Parties: i. Feb 10 and Feb 14 1. Different days were chosen based on teacher preference. 2. Different classes at different times were chosen as it seemed to work well previously for parents and for parking. b. Parent Teacher Conferences: i. March 14 and March 16 1. Plan is cater one meal and ask parents for help with the second meal 2. Budget for payment of the catered meal had been approved in a previous PTO meeting c. Teacher Appreciation Week: i. May 1-5 ii. Subcommitee managing this includes: Jenny Anglin, Rachel Rhodes and Jen Marksberry iii. Theme: Hollywood Stars iv. Includes 5 days of different items for everyone at the school which includes teachers, cafeteria employees, janitorial service employees, etc. These days will include some of the items listed below, in no particular order: a. A catered meal. In the past the adopters have paid for this. Taya Johnson is checking on this. It was also mentioned that Shirley Dilbeck was resigning as president of the Adopters and that the new president elect was Bobby Reed. b. Afternoon cookies c. Cupcake bar d. Concession Stand (kind of like at the Emmy’s)

e. Swag bag breakfast v. Motion made by Jimena Fernandez to approve $500 for this event. Seconded by Tonya Suarez. d. Learning Extravaganza: i. May 5 at CampSiloam ii. Second grade only iii. Will be in need of volunteers iv. Potential funding request coming soon v. In the past has included things such as gymnastics, karate, cupcake station, gardening station, fire truck, etc. Teacher Snack Day a. Feb 13 b. Serve chocolate mini brownie’s heart cookies and strawberries. c. $50 budget approved already Volunteer Opportunities: a. Spring pictures: 5 volunteers between 8-noon needed. In the past if you volunteer you get your child’s photo package Free b. Book Fair during the week of Parent Teacher Conferences (March 14 and 16) c.
