more fulfilled, and happy by affirming yourself and positive self-talk. This newsletter will focus on Surveying Your Strengths. These thoughts come from Dr. Zimmerman’s book Pivot:

You can build a better, stronger self-esteem with practice, using seven techniques. When your self-esteem is in great shape, you’ll have a very positive attitude. You can also build your self-esteem through your awareness. Are you aware of all your strengths, talents, gifts, and blessings? You’ve got a bunch of them, that’s for sure. The question is, do you know what they are? The greater your awareness of your strengths, the stronger your self-esteem will be. Get out a piece of paper and pencil. Write down all the strengths you have and review them each day for 30 days. I know you will have more self-esteem and a stronger, more positive attitude at the end of the 30-day period. People who wrote down their strengths before interviewing for jobs were much more successful than those that did not survey their strengths. The key is those that wrote down their strengths had greater confidence and they knew they had something to give. For March’s Paw Print I will share thoughts about Taking Risks to help build your confidence and to create a stronger self-esteem. Make Each Day Your Masterpiece.

Robyn Carr has published dozens of historical and contemporary romance novels. Other new books: The Whole Town's Talking by Fannie Flagg, Victoria by Daisy Goodwin, Mistress by Danielle Steel, When All the Girls Have Gone by Jayne Ann Krentz, And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer by Frederik Backman. Another new book is the All Iowa Reads selection for 2017, Bottomland by Michelle Hoover. The novel follows the Hess family in the years after World War I as they attempt to rid themselves of the Anti-German sentiment that left a stain on their name. When the youngest two daughters vanish in the middle of the night, the family must piece together what happened while struggling to maintain their life on the unforgiving Iowa plains. You can look up descriptions of all these new books in the library catalog. The O-M School homepage (o-mschools.org) has a link to the library catalog. Look for Quick Links on the left, the last one is “Library Catalog”. Click on that to search the library catalog for both the school and public library.
