PR E SI D E N T’ S L E TTE R We have so many inspiring members in our organization, and I recently read about one of them making a stand against the insurance giants by way of a law suit against Delta. We all complain to each other about the abuse we get from insurance companies, such as lost claims, regular denials, and fee cutting on every corner. Mark Zust, along with two other dentists, have made a stand and have stepped up to battle Delta, as we saw publicized in the ADA news. It appears to me after reading the article that these Docs have done their homework, and I am proud that they are taking the time and money to fight in the trenches. Mark has always been a great asset on the FDA board, and now we see the same acumen in the national spotlight. I for one am rooting for the case and hope it will set a standard, when successful, across the nation. We all put up with the abuse and usually feel that there is nothing we can do about it until we see someone like Mark show us the light and the way to fight the battle.

Congratulations Mark and I wish you the best. The members on the dive trip should have arrived home and I can't wait to hear all about the trip. Stevo always puts his heart into these trips and no doubt out did himself with this one. I

stripped down the plane to a bare skeleton, replaced the hull and turtle deck, and remounted the engine. In the coming months, I will have to complete reassembling the fuselage, and having stripped all the fabric from the flying surfaces for inspection and replacement of damages parts, now I will recover them, paint them and replace my shark wrap. A lot of work but I have a lot of help; I'm hoping for a quick return to the air of my and my son's flying Shark. Hope to see you in Aspen! Kevin D’Anglelo

am sharpening my skis for the annual ski trip in just a few weeks. (the Rhoades make it look so easy) I'm definitely thinking snow,k as I look out my window and see lots of it! The rebuild of my Seaplane is going nicely and I hope to finish it before the meeting in St Augustine. It would be nice to bring it over to the meeting from my rebuild site in Apopka, FL, just right down the road. So far I, with the help of many friends, have

FLYING National Convention 2015 (Con’t p.1) We are planning a Charlevoix shopping trip for the ladies (and any interested gentlemen). Charlevoix is one of the neatest little towns on Lake Michigan. “Charlevoix is a dynamic vacation destination, featuring a bounty of beaches and parks, orchards and seasonal activities sure to please the adventurous, and unique historical and architectural attractions for the curious.” Please Google “Charlevoix MI” for all that it has to offer. This day trip will be offered with enough interest and transportation will be additional.

The post convention trip to Mackinac Island is not to be missed! Captain Mowery has certainly done his research and planned up a spectacular adventure on the island! For those of you who do not know, Mackinaw is a motor free island. Aside from airplanes, there are no motorized vehicles permitted on the island. At the FBO, you can choose to take a horse drawn carriage, rent a bike, or walk down the hill to the town. The bike ride around the island is fantastic! FLYING Central District Fly - In Bentonville, AR May 15-17, 2014 temperatures, the moles have now covered more than an acre of ground with a network of tunnels and 8 inch mounds of dirt everywhere! My neighbor tried to get his Cessna 210 onto the runway and the nose wheel got stuck in a tunnel. The destruction to the runway from the moles was so out of control that I had to contact a Registered Wildlife Extermination Agent and now my runway is closed due to multiple traps buried everywhere. The hunt is on. Winter in Iowa--Play Whack-a-Mole! The past few weeks I have been experiencing "Revenge of the Moles". When I was about 5 years old, my grandfather had cut down a large dead Elm tree in his front yard. I was standing on the stump and saw a mole starting down a tunnel. I grabbed a large steel wedge that was on the stump and threw it at the mole. I remember my Grandfather being so amazed that not only could I pick up the large steel wedge, but that my aim was dead on and I had killed the mole! Well, the moles are now getting even. In early January, I noticed a few mole tunnels in front of my hangar. With a couple of weeks of above freezing

FLYING Hawaii Trip Wrap-Up The Hawaii Cruise (2015 Dive trip) has come and gone and 42 of us got to taste the wonders of our 50th State. Most got to see Pearl Harbor and tour the Missouri that is “guarding” things in the area. This is always a sobering and emotional experience for me and this time was no different. Maui was magnificent with whales galore, Hawaii with the magic of the volcanoes, Kauai worthy of all the tropical blockbuster films and then some. What a week we all had. Now Brenda and I are scooping out after a blizzard in the Midwest. However, nothing can take away the memories of a terrific week. As

always, getting to spend time with all of you is the best part. Can’t wait for the next one. Steve and Brenda
