For the week of November 19, 2017 James 5:13-20 This fall we will consider the book of James and its application to us today. As you study the passage, look beyond your notes to glean more truth from this passage by using these questions, so that you know God better! Context: How does this conclusion on prayer connect with themes in the rest of the book (1:2-4, 3:8)?
Observation: What are the various things he says about prayer? How is Elijah a helpful example?
Meaning: Think about what he means when he describes the prayer of faith. Why would it be better to understand as an objective trust in God and his power rather than a subjective wish?
Application: Think about how you can grow in prayer that trusts that God can work. Consider also your role in helping someone you might know who is straying from the truth.
