Join food justice and NON-GMO food advocates for dozens of workshops, presentations, and networking opportunities to examine the issues related to GMOs. Get the tools you need to support the movement and advocate for NON-GMO food! Prior to the conference, on JOIN the GMO Awareness Week, attend movies, farm tours, and more! This annual conference is the largest gathering in the US focused on educating and creating awareness about the implications of GMO seeds. As an international platform to share, learn and launch campaigns in support of a FREE GMO food supply, more than 60 speakers – from farmers, activists, and business owners to scientists and faith leaders -- will examine GMO seed’s relation to health, social justice, environment and corporate consolidation within local to global contexts. Conference organizer, the Biosafety Alliance, is a cross-sector, multi-level and inter-ethnic alliance of people and organizations dedicated to NON-GMO food. Our Steering committee includes : Acequias Institute, Agra Watch, Basil, Biosafety Alliance, California Food and Justice Coalition, Center for Farm Worker Families, Food First, IDEX, Navdanya Institute, Organic Consumers Association, South Central Farmers Cooperative, Vital Systems, Washington Biotechnology Action Council For the 2013 conference, we are expecting food justice and non-GMO's advocates from the US, India and Canada. We have confirmed: Vandana Shiva, Wenonah Hauter, Devon Peña, Ignacio Chapela, Ann Lopez, Jeffrey Smith, David Bacon, Phil Bereano, Theo Ferguson, among others.

Request for Proposals During the 2013 Justice Begins with Seeds (JBS) conference we would like share, learn, network and accomplish our common goals. We are seeking experienced, creative and passionate panelists and facilitators, able to stimulate the minds, bodies and spirits to participate in the broad Non GMO food movement. (We have rooms for up to 250 people)

Session

This year backbone of the conference will be seeds, land, sovereignty and corporate accountability, including health issues, colony collapse disorder, pollution, labeling/banning efforts as well as highlighting collateral damages such waste of food, food deserts and solutions (among others). Below is a detailed description of topics.

Structure This year conference will have 1 Keynote Speaker, 8 plenaries of 45 minutes each, 24 workshops/presentations of 1:30 minutes each, as well as seeds exchange, literature & video exchange, poster session, film screenings and tours.

M aterials and Infrastructure Presenters will bring materials “Tool Kit” for their workshops/presentations and will include in their proposal if you need sound system, screen projector or any other (if necessary). As organizers with a limited budget, we will inform on time if we are able to help with technical and audiovisual requests. (For plenary sessions we will have equipment and translation, but not guaranteed for breakout sessions). Ice Breaking-Community Building This conference will bring people from different regions, backgrounds and generations, we would like to find volunteers with great skills to interconnect attendees trough games, dance, yoga, music, art and any other playful activity that can create a sense of friendship, camaraderie and family. You also can share a skill or teach us something we don’t know. We will count on several rooms for small gatherings, up to 20 people.

Presenter/Panelist Application should include the following information: Name, Address, Organization, E-mail, Phone. It should also include: • A short bio for each panelist & facilitator. • Title of Workshop/Presentation • Description of activity, session, action or workshop. • Explain your goals and objectives Title of Presentation/workshop/session (Describe in less than 200 words each of next questions) What kind of panel or skill share you are planning? What impacts could occur as a result of your talk? What would like to accomplish with this session? How long this session will last? How many people you expect? Please attach (if there is any) power point, or printing materials that you would use as a kit-tool for this session. In which of the next topics your presentation would fit the best?
