LOCATION: 2500 NE 65th Avenue, Vancouver, WA 98661-6812 (map on reverse) PROCESSING FEES: New Hires (including classified personnel, teachers, substitute teachers and temporary employees) and Certification Applicants: A total fee of $80.00 is required at the time of fingerprinting. This fee includes the $45.75 Washington State Patrol & FBI background checks and ESD 112’s service fee of $34.25. Payment may be made in the form of personal check, cashier’s check, or money order payable to ESD 112 or cash in the exact amount. Live scan fingerprint machines will be used. Appointments take approximately 15 minutes and you must show a government issued picture ID such as a driver’s license or passport at time of service. The new hire will be provided with a receipt for fingerprinting which may be submitted to the district as proof that the process has taken place. Districts may obtain clearance information through the OSPI fingerprint database. REQUIREMENTS: NEW HIRES – Effective June 11, 1992: Pursuant to Chapter 159, Laws of 1992 for the State of Washington, “school districts, Educational Services Districts, and their contractors hiring employees who have regularly scheduled unsupervised access to children shall require a record check through the Washington State Patrol Criminal Identification System and through the Federal Bureau of Investigation before hiring an employee. When necessary, applicants may be employed on a conditional basis pending completion of the investigation. The district or the contractor hiring the employee shall determine who shall pay costs associated with the record check.” CERTIFICATION APPLICANTS – Any applicant who does not hold a valid Washington certificate at the time of application is required to obtain a state and national fingerprint background check. Results of the background checks will be returned to the Office of Certification at OSPI. Upon confirmation of a clear Washington State Patrol background check, the ESD 112 certification officer is authorized to issue a temporary permit to qualified teacher applicants. Issuance of the certificate by OSPI will be contingent upon results of FBI background check. It is suggested that certification applicants start the fingerprint process as soon as they received their application packet.

REJECTED FINGERPRINTS: (CONTINUED)

If your fingerprints are rejected by the WSP and/or the FBI, you or your school district will be notified by mail. You will then need to schedule an appointment with ESD 112 to get reprints. There is no additional fee for reprints, but you must make an appointment. If we cannot get quality prints after the second reprint attempt, you will have to travel to the WSP Criminal Records Division in Olympia, WA where your prints will be guaranteed not to reject. NOTE: If you have completed a full-fingerprint Washington State and FBI background check for education within a two year period prior to your hire or certification, please notify your district or the certification officer.
