MPH “The epidemiology curriculum prepared me well for the culminating experience, where I applied what I learned in class to a topic of my choice.” - Nick Roetker, graduate

Epidemiology is the study of how and why disease differs between human populations and use of that information to find those at high risk, identify causes and take preventive measures. The Epidemiology MPH program at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health offers students many opportunities for research training. Students study with faculty who are international leaders in cardiovascular, cancer and infectious disease; nutrition; maternal, child and reproductive health; genetic epidemiology; and epidemiologic methods for clinical, observational, and community-based research. Our graduates work in a variety of settings at both the individual and community level using their knowledge to investigate health problems and conditions.
